When you install software to share on different accounts make sure you are the admin when installing and others can use it. If both accounts have admin rights then you will have to do each one. To make that easier just put the DMG image in the public folder and you wont need to download it again.

I can't signon

Sign on to what? Your computer? If you ever could "sign in" and not now, possibly your user profile became corrupted. It is not too hard to create a new user profile. My instincts are that this is not the problem, however.

Are you trying to log in to your account or some other person's account. The last user of the computer typically has their log in screen retained. Check USER ACCOUNTS on the computer via the control panel. Can anyone else log in? Has an administrator assigned a password to you computer account?

If you can not sign on because you set up a password and can not recall it, you likely would have to use a password recovery disc.

A remarkable number of times, if there is a user name and password, the user fails to log on because they either type their password in as their user name or the are using capitals and the password was lower case. And, of course, to sign in, you use your user name and your password. If this is a home system, you may not even have a password on the system and the problem may be something else.

It would be helpful to know the computer manufacturer and model number and operating system when addressing these questions.

Step 1: Download and install Windows Password Reset
Step 2: Burn Windows Password Reset Std ISO file to CD/DVD
Step 3: Put in your newly created CD and remove your Windows Password.

How to network connect and activate windows 2007 & MAC X

Set up user accounts

Users connecting to Windows Sharing must have user accounts on the Mac OS X computer that is sharing. There is no guest access. Any person who already has an account on the Mac OS X computer can use his existing account. You must log in to the Mac OS X computer with an administrator account to set this up. The steps differ for new and existing users.

For new users
  1. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
  2. From the View menu, choose Accounts.
  3. Click New User (10.2) or the "+" button (10.3 or later).
  4. Enter the Name and Short Name for the user who will log in from Windows.

The user's short name is exactly how the user will enter their name when they log in to Windows Sharing. The short name is always lowercase.

For users of Windows 98: If you log in to Windows 98 with a username, make sure it matches your Mac OS X account's short name. If you do not log in to Windows 98 with a username, you will need to create a new Windows 98 username that matches the account short name in Mac OS X. For more information on using Windows operating systems, please see Microsoft documentation or contact Microsoft for further assistance.
  5. Enter the user's password.
  6. 10.2 only: Click the checkbox for "Allow user to log in from Windows".
  7. 10.2 only: Click OK.
  8. Quit System Preferences.

If your Windows PC has is equipped with an Ethernet port, you can connect your PC and Macintosh using an Ethernet cable. By doing this, you are creating a small local network, consisting of just the two computers. Set up your Windows PC by turning on File Sharing. Refer to the instructions that came with your Windows PC if you're not sure how to do this.

To locate and connect to the Windows computer, you can use the sidebar in a Finder window. You need to know the workgroup name for the computer and the network name (called the "computer name") for the computer. To connect to the computer, you also need a user name and password and the name of the shared folder you want to access. If you don't have this information, contact the person who owns the computer or your network administrator.

If you cannot locate the Windows computer in the Network browser, you may be able to connect to it using the Connect To Server dialog in the Finder.

Make sure the Internet Connection Firewall is turned off, or if it's on make sure TCP port 445 is open to allow sharing connections.
To connect you Mac and Windows computers: step_1.gif

In the Finder, choose Go > "Connect to Server."
step_2.gif

Type the network address for the computer in the Server Address text box using one of these formats:

smb://DNSname/sharename smb://IPaddress/sharename
step_3.gif

Follow the onscreen instructions to type the workgroup name and a user name and password, and choose the shared folder you want to access.

Changed network on husbands' work computer; locked out.

You can create a bootable Disk (CD or USB ) from this site to recover the password.:
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html

This is what I use, it has a 30 day trail. It has a program called Locksmith which enables you to change or delete the password on any user and admin account..
http://www.bootcd.us/ERD_Commander_2003.php

copy and paste the complete link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

I cannot log on to computer, dont know password

try starting in safe mode(press power button like turning on normally then tapping F8 when the screen shows dell on it). choose safe mode. put administrator in as thu username and leave password blank. hopefully it works. if it does get you into the system i think you can go to control panel and then user accounts. you should be able to see the other user names there and you can delete passwords too. then you can restart and log on normally hopefully

Cant login to computer because I forgot the admin password. i can sign in as guest with limited access.please help me

Boot your computer into Safe Mode. It sometimes varies, but the typical way on most WinXP

based machines is to strike the F8 key during P.O.S.T. Once the drivers load you need to

access the Command Prompt. START / ALL PROGRAMS / ACCESSORIES / COMMAND

PROMPT. A new window will appear.

At command prompt, type "control userpasswords2" and press Enter to open the Windows 2000-style User Accounts application.

On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name and password for the account you want to be
logged on each time you start your computer.

This is also an opportunity to set a new Administrator password.

Forgot password to log on to notebook

  1. i found this floating around, hope it helps, let me know please
Start up from a Mac OS X Install CD (one whose version is closest the the version of Mac OS X installed). You should first disable Open Firmware password protection, if it is enabled. Hold the C key as the computer starts.
  1. Choose Reset Password from the Installer menu (or Utilities menu in Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger). Tip: If you don't see this menu or menu choice, you're probably not started from the CD yet.
  2. Select your Mac OS X hard disk volume.
  3. Set the user name of your original administrator account.
Important: Do not select "System Administrator (root)". This is actually a reference to the root user. Do not confuse it with a normal administrator account.
