The yellow/red/white cables are COMPOSITE cables. COMPONENT cables are RED/BLUE/GREEN. You can buy those at any electronics store. Your best bet, though, is to stick with HDMI if you can.

Check the format of recording on the disc you inserted in now. Check with an other known disc, and see the result. If both shows the same fault, check the picture setting by entering DVD menu.

Make sure your av channel is av2 and not av2s as this will give b/w playback

1. Verify connections are color coded.

2. If they are correct, take out movie, press Play/Stop at same time on the front of the unit (not remote) to reset any settings that may have been changed.

it has something to do with your TV's video system and your player's video system...they should match...that is,PAL-PAL,NTSC-NTSC and etc..or if your tv has a multisystem then just set it to AUTO..

unit is in a progresive mode. need to turn back to interlaced.

I too had the same problem. On the Vzio there are AV plug ins on the left side (not the back, but the left side). Use these jacks when connecting to the DVD player and choose the AV button on the TV remote. Viola!

Have you tried to go to a different channel?
