Dishwasher does not work all the time

Hi Folks,
Need some help on a dishwasher problem if I could.
The dishwasher will go thru the first washing stage and then stop. It smells like hot electrical odor. If you open the door and let it cool down it will then work for a short time, till things get too hot again. It's like it has a thermal overload in it that keeps kicking out. This will happen in any part of a cycle ie washing, rinse etc.

Your dishwasher i believe has a potential start relay, it sounds like this relay is faulty and not disengaging the start winding properly. Remove the two lower panels there will be a small plastic looking switch with 3 wires and coiled with bare copper wire.

Why is the Rinse Cycle and Drying not working

Unfortunately you did not specify the model dishwasher so I'll give you a general answer.
(The indicator light, straight from Washing moves to completion stage where the light blinks rapidly) I believe you means the "End LED" (LED 3) blinks rapidly. If this is true and according to your description of failure (no drying, no rinsing) I think that appeared alarm AL04. It means the thermistor (NTC) not compliant - probable failure of the component that detects the temperature .
I suggest you to check: thermistor NTC, wiring and electronic.

DD603 top draw cycle getting stuck on 73min??????

Normally if you started the rinse cycle with water already in the base of the dishwasher it will immediately go into circulating the water through the wash arms. Do you hear the wash arms running when the washer is stuck at 11mins? Also when the washer is stuck at 73 mins are the wash arms running all the time or do you hear the pump operate at some stage?
If you have the dishwasher manual available make sure the water pressure setting is at HI or LO depending on your rated mains water pressure.

Clean light is flashing

As an example on a kitchenaid dishwasher when the clean light flashes 7 times this is a control error that be corrected you would press Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry, Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry with the door open and then close the door and press cancel. If your unit were a whirlpool dishwasher you can press hi temp heated dry hi temp heated dry with the door open which does end up lighting all the led's and when you shut the door makes the unit cycle into the wash stage. after you hear the unit letting water into it listen for the wash cycle to start and then press cancel. After the unit drains then you can set your unit to wash again. I will await your reply as to what type of unit you have before continueing on with a exact solution for your unit. Thanks

Dishwasher does not fill

Hi,
Double check that your water supply line is not kinked.
This sounds like a bad fill valve. If you have hard water and most everyone does after a few years the valve will quit working properly and will fail in one of 2 ways a slow or no fill or it will not shut off completely.
I hope this helps if I can help with anything else please let me know.
