I need to reset the password

I have lost the admin password for this router and I need to make some changes. Is there a hardware reset or is there a built in security user Via the CLI interface who I can login as to make changes.

Thanks for any help

Flashing the firmware clears the password and all other settings.
1) Download the firmware (and manuals) from http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/FireWall/DFL-500/Firmware/ 2) Install a TFTP server on your PC - I downloaded Tftpd32, another one is TinyTFTP by Solarwinds.net 3) to save time, unzip the firmware to the TFTP server's directory and rename it to image.out 4) connect the DFL-500 to your PC using a null modem cable and use any terminal program (HyperTerminal in Windows, Minicom in Linux, settings 9600-N-8-1) 5) connect the DFL-500 either to your LAN router (straight cable) or your PC (crossover cable) 6) boot the DFL-500 by plugging in the cord 7) you have three seconds at the "Press any key..." prompt to hit a key 8) when prompted, type your PC's IP and make one up for the DFL-500 (according to the directions, you should change your PC's IP to 192.168.1.2 and use 192.168.1.99 for the DFL-500)

I lost my password to my dir-601 router and need it for an Ipod to run of my wireless net. How can I find it? I have the security code. Thanks

Hello,
You have several options. However, I'm unsure if you have lost the username/password to access your D-Link router's setup/configuration page or if you have lost your wireless access code (used to access your wireless internet).

If you have lost your username/password to your routers setup/configuration page first try the factory default combination.

The default username is: admin
The default password leave blank

If you have customized the username and password during the original install you will have to reset the router to its factory default settings. To do this:
PLEASE NOT THAT BY DOING THIS YOUR ROUTER WILL BE RESET TO FACTORY DEFAULT AND WILL HAVE TO BE RECONFIGURED
Locate the reset button (hole) on the rear panel of the unit. With the router powered on, use a
paperclip to hold the button down for 10 seconds. Release the button and the router will go through its reboot process.

Wait about 30 seconds to access the router. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. When logging in, the username is: admin and leave the password box empty.

Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
KYTechnology

Lost password

Hi there,
The default password is usually "admin" for the username or "admin" for the password. Sometimes it can be either both or one or the other. If you can't log into the Control Panel because you lost the password, look on the back of the router. You should see a small pinhole. If you push and hold that for about thirty seconds you can reset the router to factory default settings. This will reset the password to your control panel but it will also reset your internet connection. You will need to reset your internet connection again.
If you're referring to the password (being your WPA2 or WEP Key) that has been forgotten, go into the control panel. Under the security section you should see an option to change the password for your WPA2 or WEP. Change that and you should good to go.

If I reset my dynex G router using the reset button; 1) What will be my default password? 2) Will resetting the router affect the hard wired connection?

the default ip is 192.168.1.1  username admin password admin or leave the password blank.
hardwired you mean is utp cat 5e cable? known as internet cable, which using switch hub.
well, it will affect if the wire/cable you mean is came from the router you reset.
the wire and the access point  came from the modem is still active.
do not reset your hardware if it is also your modem. Because when you reset it, all configuration of  your modem will be lost, including your user name and password provided by your ISP.

Lost my admin password

Do a hard reset. On most typical routers you hold down the tiny reset button with a paperclip for a few seconds until all the lights shut off, and quickly release it (5-15 seconds depending on model usually).
Then it will be reset to factory defaults, and you must go set up everything again. By default the password is usually (not always) 'admin'

Cannot connect to the router lost the password

There are two passwords for the router: the WEP/WPA password, which lets you connect to it wirelessly; and the admin password, which lets you change the configuration. If you have lost the WEP/WPA password but know the admin password (or haven't reset it from its factory default), you can connect a temporary cable between your router and your computer, and use the Easy Install Wizard or the manual configuration steps (see manual) to change the WEP/WPA password to something you know. If you do not know the admin password, then you have to reset the router to factory defaults by pressing and holding the Reset button for at least 10 seconds, and then using the Easy Install Wizard to configure it again from scratch.

Lost password

You have to be at the router to do this.

1 - Find the reset switch on the router (should be on the back). That will reset the router to factory defaults.
2 - Using a web browser, type in the address 192.168.1.1 - this will get you into the router's web management interface.
3 - Log into the router. User name is "admin", password is "admin". Once logged in, change those, and set your router up again.

There is no way to recover the old password, if you forget it. Sorry, but that is for your own security.

Cheers
