Looking to join two Nortel MICS pbxs using E&M 8 wire cards and cisco Vic2-2e/m cards with the two cisco boxes both plugged into the public internet and faking an E&M channel so the nortel switches think they are wired together even though they are miles apart - any suggestions on configuration of routing for the nortel or configuration of the cisco 2801 router with the vic2-2e/m card in it?

It's simple.

On Vmail it's Ftr 983 -> pswd -> 1 -> reinstall -> yes
On MICS it's pull the power plug off and within 15 minutes -> Ftr** -> startup -> pswd

A Nortel Key Service Unit, an ICS (MICS,CICS), BCM (50,100 etc), Norstar (308,616,824), an Avaya IP Office running Nortel cards, or there is another company that makes a Nortel emulation key system but I can't recall what it is right now.

No, the nortel phones you have are digital. Cisco is an IP system (not very good either)

After entering the mailbox access F981, press "#", the display should change from Pswd: to Log:. Now, enter the alternate mailbox number followed by the password for that box and "#". The remainder of the prompts should be the same as accessing the 'native' mailbox.

don't know what program you are using to make the recording(s) with, but have you checked to make sure that the program is set to record more than 7-8 mins of speech? (some programs, like youtube, etc only allow about 10 mins recording for certain formats)

or that there may not be enough memory allocated for the program / file format being used?

Try using a smaller memory card. This only happens to me when using a 4- or 8-gig card. 2-gig and below, No error.

Nortel M7000 series are proprietary sets which require a nortel MICS, CICS, or an older 8x24, 6x16, or 3x08 in order to work. If you have the system, it maybe that the jack isn't activated with a system port.

Step 1 Go into the web-based configuration on the router (enter 192.168.0.1 in your web brower). Enter username (admin) and password (blank). Step 2 Click on Advanced at the top and then click on Applications on the left side. Step 3 Check Enable Step 4 Enter a name (i.e. Nortel). Step 5 Enter 500 for Trigger Port (500 - 500). Step 6 Select Both for Trigger Type. Step 7 Enter 500 for Public Port. Step 8 Select Both for Public Type. Step 9 Click Apply and then click on Continue when prompted.
