If this is a NEC VT series projector, Change the lamp. When if it continues to blink amber and not project and image after installing a new lamp check the lamp cover to see if the micro switch tab on the lamp cover broke off. Some models have a built in lens cover. If the cover is not slid over to open completely the light may not turn on.
Check the iCs on the lcd control board which shut down the ccfl lamps? If hot put a paper sticker slightly smaller on the IC. This prevents condensation from osmosis into the IC.
Most common failure in the LCD moniotors are due to bad caps in the power supply section, that will be the first place for you to check. please see my albums so you can make the decision if you will want to DIY repair or not. If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on: Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/ he can make you a set of caps for you.
IT IS TIME TO BUY A NEW MONITOR. I KNOW ALOT OF OF US CANNOT AFFORD A NEW MONITOR EVERY TIME ONE BRAKES, I HAVE FOUND THAT SECOND HAND STORES SALE THERE MINITORS FROM 1-2 DOLLARS PER INCH, I PICKED UP IBM FLAT SCREEN 20" AROUND 20.00 USD. AND IT STILL RUNNING AND I HAVE HAD IT FOR A YEAR OR MORE NOW.
From the manual: To reset the lamp hold down the "HELP" button on the remote for 10 sec and the lamp indicator will turn off. Then start up the projector again.
The LCD screen may be burned out. There's whats called an invertor board and there is an electronic ribbon strip on the LCD itself. If you look very carefully you can probably see a faint image on the screen. The LCD screen will need replacing. Before doing anything with this monitor, try it on another computer first and if you can try another monitor on your computer. Other than that, there really is nothing you can do but replace the monitor.
