Cerwin Vega Avs-sub8 150 Watt Amplified Stereo 8" Subwoofer Sub Woofer Logo

The subwoofer starts to make a loud thumping sound

After the woofer has been on for a few minutes, it begins to make a loud thumping noise that continues until I shut it off. If I let it go, it seems to continue for a few minutes, then stops for a while, then happens again. Any ideas why it is doing this?

Remove the signal source and power it on to see if the problem occurs without any input signal. The problem could be in the receiver and not the sub

I unhooked the line-in, and turned the unit on. After a few minutes, the thumping sounds returned. Eventhough it didn't work, I didn't think about it being a receiver problem. What should I try next?

it appears that something is wrong with the amplifier in the sub. You'll probably have to send it out for repair.

JBL PB12 will have loud thump or pop!

First try to find the source of your problem. The easiest way would be to try your sub with a different audio source to see if the problem still occurs but is sounds more like there's a problem with the receiver.

Bose acousticmass 15 sub-woofer making a noise

The sub contains the amp for the other speakers. But it sounds like the amp has a seriously damaged section and will probably have to be serviced by Bose.
