Phone / Provider:BlackBerry 8700 Cingular/AT&T provider.
PC: HP zv6000 with Vista Home Basic (32 bit OS)
Problem: Unable to download OS on phone -507 Error / PC does not recognize phone when connected to USB.
Solutions Attempted with no success:
1.Downloaded latest of version of OS to PC.
2.Attempted to utilize the MML / MFI Loader with no success.
3.Downloaded Device Manager
4.Downloaded BlackBerry Desktop Software Manager.
5.Attempted with no results JL_Cmdr utility
6.Deleted Vendor
7.Reinstalled Rapi.dll
8.Attempted to find and delete intellisync.dll
9.Downloaded 8700 specific software no results.
10.Attempted the 4.7 version software update, no results.
11.Have BlackBerry Tool Authintication Manager (do not understand this utility)?.
Reason: My curve 8300 was stolen. This was an old phone a friend had at
one time, trying to use it as a back up. I have a second number and
line available to utilize with AT&T with an authorized fresh SIM
card. Though when it worked for a few hours and I tried to upgrade with
accidentally deleting OS there was only GSM, no GPRS or EDGE available,
need help there too. Thanks.
First, download and install the latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager software (5.0.1) from: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/contactFormPreload.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22&dl=DA5FB46338C8C0DCB1039F7898184FC5

also I have found that when loading the software on the desktop manager, take the battery out first and start it from a completely off condition.
