Help - The cooktop is unlocked. I touch the power button and nothing. I've left my finger in the middle of the button for 5 seconds nothing. There are no lights on the cooktop at all. It's like it's dead. The top is clean. Help - I'm housesitting and it will look like I broke it. It worked perfectly two days ago.
It has worked perfectly well, up until about a month ago when the right hand elements stopped working, now the left hand elements do not work either. It has worked perfectly well, up until about a month ago when the right hand elements stopped working, now the left hand elements do not work either.

Without being there to troubleshoot further, the first thing I'd recommend is checking the breaker. It'll most likely be in the breaker panel outside the house... in the BIG panel. This is a 240 Volt unit, so what you'll be looking for is a "dual" breaker. They'll be connected together.
I'll tell you what... here's the easy way to do it. Simply turn off, then turn on all the breakers in the big breaker box outside. Make sure you have all the computers turned off first, though. You might have to reset a few clocks, but that's OK. I'd bet this gets you cooking again. If not, post back.

Hello Heidi, thank you for your post!
From my understanding your Electrolux cooktop is displaying an error code of 8.8. The error code of 8.8 means there is a shift register issue on the middle touch board. This could a possible issue with the control board or the middle touch board. You may need to have a professional technician out to your home for proper diagnosis. We hope this information is helpful to your repair. -Matt
If Shr (5hr) appears on the display then the cooktop is in showroom
mode. To exit showroom mode the cooktop must be locked by pressing and
holding the key symbol for 5 seconds. After the cooktop is locked, press
and hold the melt touch pad for 5 seconds.
The middle light is the lock. You must hold it down for at least 7 seconds to unlock it, then the middle light will go off. Your hands can't be wet, or none of the buttons on mine work right.
Couldent find any help, pushed the small switch until display reacted then touched the touch fields one by one in order from top left until the display showed nine. Then beep it all worked again !
Gggenau offered a rep at 400-500 eur for this ! Shame on them !
