Is the battery charged? Looks like you try to startup the laptop with a discharged battery.

SOURCE: I can not get the laptop to boot up. It will not

Hello agasmier,

You may either clean the CMOS port or change the CMOS battery itself.

If you're not techie or if my answer sounded gibberish, a visit to a local technician might be a safe advice, just for good measure.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: HP COMPAQ NC6000 WONT COME UP; FANRUNS AND ORANGE LIGHT FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS AND THEN SHUTS OFF EVEN ON AC POWER OR BATTERY.

Hi DD,
Does the cursor blink on the screen before turn off?
There could be several causes for your PC's problem. The major ones though are:-

  1. A virus invasion of your PC.
  2. Your Operating System/boot log has corrupted.
Turn on the PC and press f8 on startup.Select to open on safe mode.Choose to open on a previously good working Operating System.
If this works and the PC opens, you may have to transfer your important files to an external drive then try repairing the Operating System or probably re-install it again. But first:-
  • Check the RAM[s] and make sure they are properly seated in their slots.Your Notebook has 2 memory slots under the keyboard positioned one on top of the other. The expansion slot is the one on top of the primary memory slot.Access them by flipping over the laptop and unscrewing the back cover. There in the middle is the only compartment housing the RAM[s] and the PC's CMOS battery.Unscrew.Remove the RAM[s],clean their slots and the fix them again making sure they properly fit.
  • Check the hard disks power supply.Disconnect it and re-connect it again.
Hope this helps.Thanks!

For further help please check Dell Inspiron 1525 Manual. Also confirm if the light on the charger stays on,when connected to the system.

My HP 6720 won't switch on. When connected to the power source, a steady blue light comes on (normal) then goes to a light blue then goes blank. If I press the 'on' button, a flashing orange light appears...

1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.
2. Make sure the power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.
3. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.
4. The power button could be bad.
5. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced.

I have a dell C521 tower, switch it on but light stays on orange, fans work but it wont switch on.help.

Hi,
if the light remains Orange, Possible In Standby/Sleep/Hibernate Mode.
Try pressing And Holding The power Button For 4-5 seconds Or more.
If this Fails, remove the power Cable, remove side-panel ( Unless Warranted ) locate the silver cmos battery, on the motherboard. remove the battery for 10 seconds, replace and repower and startup. failing this i,d suspect the ram/memory or cpu.

Flashing lightning bolt on Compaq C300

This sounds like a battery problem. The best way to test this is to remove the battery and then power the laptop up with just the power cord plugged in but no battery. If the computer boots then the battery is bad you will need a replacement. Also try letting the battery charge for a day. Be sure that the charging light is coming on when you have it plugged in.

Dell Latitude C610 battery claims its too hot to charge....

The charge light flashing orange-orange-orange-green....-orange-orange-orange-green.... usually means the battery has reached the end of its life and now it needs replacing.

There are three ways to test your battery:

1) If the battery has a button on the bottom of it and a row of 5 leds, then push AND HOLD the button for 5 seconds. The LEDs should all turn OFF, then turn back on showing a pattern. If all five LEDs turn on, the battery is dead.

2) Open the Dell Quickset application (doubleclick it in system tray), go to Battery Meter, go to the battery health tab, and pick your battery. It should tell you there if the battery is healthy or not.

3) Reboot your computer and go into the bios. Pick the Battery tab in the bios. It will list the battery health there.
