Why dont my laptop connect to the internet after i changed the hard drive

which drive was changed NOT TOLD mine has 3 +1 external.
changed the boot drive, not told.
the new hdd is blank so there is no OS on any hdd. new.
NO PC told at all, model (of vast) 4 decades back to first compaq.

no OS told xp to w11. not one clue as to the OS that is there now.

how the OS got to there no told
cloned it>
loaded OS (secret) to new boot drive? ?
then found the wifi drivers are missing or wrong
no class of internet told (how connected via what and what ISP)
my guess is lost all wifi settings
and wrong or missing wifi driver (try using ethernet cable)
lost only the your private wifi credentials?
if you can ping 1.1.1.1
internet is not dead. only DNS is dead or set wrong.
use Ethernet first. to see, omg internet is not dead
the fix wifi or 3G-wwlan or what ever service you have and not told

hints, the OS has wifi drivers and must be good in device manager or wifi will be dead.
no OS told nor if upgraded OS nor what PC this is.
some laptops had 3 choices wifi card new (only HP;'s work)
and the driver must match only 1 of the 3. or fails hard it will,

My hp lap top wont connect to the internet through the usb the ethernet or wireless and it was working fine until 24 hours ago. I think it may be the network adapter. I re installed the driver for it but...

Try turning off the wireless router fo 30 secs and then power it up again. When the LEDs light up, then boot up the HP laptop.
If this doesn't work, then check the laptop to see if the wireless router issued the HP laptop with an IP address. to do this - click on Start - Run - type cmd and press Enter. This will open a DOS command box, then type ipconfig and press Enter.
If the IP address returns 0.0.0.0 then the wireless router didn't issue the HP with an IP address and either the wireless router is faulty or the wireless card is faulty or it has lost its LAN configuration.
If the wireless router LEDs are all on, try connecting a LAN cable direct to the LAN port on the router and the laptop to see if it connects to the Internet. If it connects then install the latest wireless card driver and configure it with the wireless router's settings.

Internet connection light

Help & Support has everything that's in the owner's Guide. Just ask it.

Top left button, above the keyboard, is Wireless On/Off.

If nothing happens, go to CONTROL PANEL / NETWORK CONNECTIONS. R-click on Wireless Network Connection. L-click DISABLE. Wait about 5 seconds, do it again and L-click ENABLE. That should reset the modem and get things going.

After you establish an internet connection, go to START / PROGRAMS / HP / HP (SOFTWARE) UPDATES and install the latest patches. They will include aa newer version of HP Wireless Assistant

Good luck.

Wireless connection lost

Wirless and modem systems both are different, there is no connection between them.

If you were using your modem for internet access then you should chek-out your modem and phone-lines etc. Wirless will not effect.

verify your modem driver is installed correctly and check the settings.

Thanks
Iqbal
