The Protect Push Power display flashes in sony systems when ever there is an issue with the amplifier, as you say there is no improvement even after you unplugged the speaker terminals, that means it is some internal problem.
to confirm the same, suggest to press the function + next + eject buttons together it will show the cause for the error display, either it will be DC detect or SD detect.
If so then suggest you to refer an authorized sony technician as the unit used almost 90 % smd technology and any inexperienced person can tamper it very badly.
If you are a qualified to handle SMD repairs then my hint for repairs would be to check in the final output stage or stage prior to that(CXD-9788 IC) Also check for the 32V supply apears at the connector. the exact part cannot be pinpointed without testing the circuit thoroughly.

There are rare occassions where a power cyle/reset can clear a protect condition, but this is extremely rare. Please see the link below for and explanation of protect mode. Feeel free to post any additional questions you may have here.

Push Power Protector - Sony MHC-VX777 I am getting Standby message and push power protector .My music system was not operated

Hi!

This is what the manual says:

PROTECT"and "PUSH POWER" appear
alternately.

•A strong signal was input.
Press ?/1 to
turn off the power, leave the system
turned off for a while, then press ?/1
again to turn on the power.

•Check the speaker cables in case
"PROTECT" and "PUSH POWER"
appear alternately again after you turn
the system on.

Push power protector

If it really says, "Push power protector", there should be a reference to it in your owner's manual. Check there first.

When home theater is turn on, protector push power is flashed on thee screen. player will not function further. volume level is 9. currently can't be turn down.

Protector means there is a short circuit somewhere in either the speakers, the wiring or inside the unit itself....you can try disconnecting all the speakers and then turning on the unit...if the protector goes away, then you have a bad speaker or bad wiring to the speakers....if the problem stays, then there is a faulty circuit in the receiver itself and will need to be serviced

Error code - protector

Try disconnecting all the speakers from the back and turn the unit back on. If the "protector" display goes away, turn the unit back off and reconnect one speaker. Turn it back on and check for "protector". Repeat.

If you find that one of the speakers causes "protector" to appear, you either have a bad speaker cable or bad speaker. Try swapping each of those out to see what happens.

Protector push power - dvd home theater system

Protect mode will kicking whenever a fault is detected.

Causes that can start protect mode are:

Electrostatic harges on internal circuits.
Leave the unit unplugged for power for one hour or so, this will allow discharge.

Bad speaker wiring.
Check speaker wiring, try unplugging and plugging back, or start after removing one speaker at the time.

Internal fault.
Internal fault is the natural cause for protect mode. If all the above did not work, then the problem is a blown component or an internal fault. In this case the unit must be taken apart , tested and repaired by an experienced person.
If the unit is less than one year old, or if you want to get service, call Sony at the phone number listed on the product documentation.

Regards.

Protector and "push Power"

Please check speaker wires should be properly connected and not touched / shorted.
Push Power Protect is error sign when unit got problem in Power Amp area and mostly its Power Amp Out IC failure.
I would suggest to ask Sony for warranty cover.

Push power protector

I brought the unit to an authorized Sony repair depot and they concluded that all the power transistors were fried. They replaced the system board under warranty (at no charge) and the system has functioned perfectly since. Thanks for your help. -Steve.
