I have a nice recumbent bike that my husband recently moved upstairs for me as my knees don't do the basement stairs very well. Since he moved it up, it doesn't work. He tested it with a voltage tester or something and it looks like the computer part is not getting power to the start button. Nothing lights up on the computer. Fresh batteries, bike is plugged in.
Check to see if you have power at the outlet.
Follow the power cord to the frame of the bike and see if there is an external power supply "on-off" switch. Many electronic exercise equipment have this feature.
Check you owner's guide troubleshooting section for help too.
Since you did not mention the brand name and model number to this piece of equipment- I have no way of looking up info on it.
Testimonial: "the recumbent bike is a New Balance 6100 5K, the owner's manual says "Fitness Quest" too but the bike display sticker is New Balance"
Did your husband take the bike apart before moving it upstairs? Even if he didn't, I wonder if the electrical connectors in hte computer tube loosened. I would check each of the connections; then I would double check the batteries behind the computer module and make sure they have a full charge (1.5Vdc)- remember don't use rechargeable batteries; check continuity on the power pack, and check your receptacles for proper voltage. One side of the duplex receptacle could be good and the other receptacle dead. The mere fact the bike was working before it was moved, I suspect that some wires may have gotten disconnected during the moving process.
It's possible, however, I would think that you have a greater chance that there is a loose connection before having a ribbon cable go bad. I would still take apart the tube that connects to the computer, as well as the tube at the base of the bike and check all the connections- even if it requires disconnecting and reconnecting them. These are the only repair instructions that I have available. I am sorry that I am unable to help you any further. I truly understand your frustration. Best wishes on your project.
I've tried several times to post a web site for you to go to (in my previous message) that I think would have been of help to you, for whatever reason, it won't let me post it.

SOURCE: Schwinn recumbent bike 203 Ac adapter or batteries?
It uses an AC adapter. You can visit:
fitnessrepairparts.com
This is where I am getting the AC parts for my 201.
Good luck!
SOURCE: missing power cord/adaptor
You just need to go to Radio shack, and get a DC9V Adapter at 500mA and the correct polarity of (-) on the outside and (+) in the center. Original was a AHEAD AC Adapter Model ADB-0900500
Good Luck
SOURCE: proform gr 80 recumbent exercise bike cant get the
The GR80 uses for type D batteries. The battery compartment is on the bottom of the console, look for the D-shaped battery door, press the tab located towards the front side of the console and open the door. Careful, the batteries may fall down if you open the door - type Ds are heavy enough to be felt when they fall on your feet.

Model No NB6100-EK 6100r is still not showing any display at all, neither plugged into outlet or off of new batteries. I've disconnected the 10 wire connector the leads to the console from the bike and took the black plastic cover off the display console. Could the ribbon cable that attaches from the board to the power on/off buttons be bad? Where can I get parts for this model since this recumbent bike isn't being made anymore do to Fitness Quest, the builder of this bike filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy. I really need to get this bike working asap please, thank you so much for your help
I had a bike shop look at my Model No NB6100-EK 6100r recumbent bike and it's not the adapter or the connections, it's the computer itself. This was my educated guess 2 months ago, but didn't want to waste $100 bucks on a part I wasn't sure would fix the problem. 2months ago I could get the computer from Sears, but now I can't. For Christ Sake, I should be able to buy a computer for this bike still, new or used, I just want this computer. PLEASE HELP ME, I'm trying to get this bike together and working properly for my mom. THANK YOU
