Ink system failure is a faulty printhead issue - call hp and they will have you do a cleaning. Rarely solves the issue and they will end up sending you a replacement printhead.

This is for 2 ink systems like #74 and #75 ink. First try opening the printer and removing the ink cartridges. See if the error goes away. If it does, one of the ink cartridges are bad. If error goes away, put both in the printer and remove only one at a time. Also, the issue could be with a piece of paper or other small object inside the printer.

I am getting a error message saying the printer does not have enough ink to ensure printer health. The empty ink cartridge must be replaced to resume printing. I replaced the cartridges and it does not...

These printers have been known to have ink system failure errors. This message can also be caused by using compatible or re-manufactured cartridges. We believe the HP Live update software is also responsible for "dobbing" on you if you use any other brand.
A Fix for the ink system failure can be found below Not sure if it will help with your particular error but it wont hurt to try.

Window says"ink system failure" errorOxc18a0001. What do I do? It will not do anything.

did you already replace ink assembly, then check ink filling in docking station not full or chance pad as possible. existing ink that touch printer head can cause error.

HP Photosmart C6180 0xc19a0035 ink system failure message. Tried solution posted on this site. problem reoccurs. Anything else to suggest?

Go to http://www.ccl-la.com/blog and search for HP Photosmart. They have two protocols for clearing ink system failure errors. One resets the machine and the other re-primes ink through the lines.

Have a hp 3310 it says ink system failure error 0xc18a0106 it wont print, scan, copy and it does have enough ink. thank 4 ur help

Turn off the machine using the power button, unplug the power cord from the back of the machine, remove the ink cartridges, wait 2 min, plug the power cord back in, press the on button, wait until the printer prompts that the ink cartridges are missing, then replace the ink cartridges. If this doesn't clear the error then you may need to re-prime ink through the system to clear the error. There are good instructions for doing this at http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/hp-photosmart-ink-system-failure-1/.

Can print...ink system failure - followed process but it wont wor

release the right arrow button until the display says “System Configuration Menu”. (on C8100 use Touch Screen)
2. Press and release the “OK” button.
3. Display should say “Hardware failure status”. If not there already, Arrow Key over to “Hardware failure status”,
4. Press and release the “OK” button.
5. Display should say “Hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear”.
6. Press and release the “OK” Button. Message changes to “Hardware failure status Cleared. Press Cancel to continue”.
7. Press and release the “CANCEL” button as many times as necessary, so that, either the “Welcome to Photosmart Express” screen appears, or, the “Ink System Failure” screen appears. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO PRINT AT THIS STAGE.
8. Using the Power Button, turn the unit OFF and unplug the power cable from back of the printer and wall outlet.
9. Wait 30 seconds for the power to get discharged and then plug the power cable into the wall outlet first and then into the back of the printer
10. Turn the unit on. The printer may display message “USE POWER BUTTON TO SHUTDOWN THE PRINTER” followed by “PRESS OK TO CONTINUE”. Press OK.
11. If the printer has already initialized, then go to the next step. If not, the printer will start the “ONE TIME INK INITIALIZATION PROCESS”. Allow this process to complete and do not interrupt. Once the initialization process is complete, the printer will print out a Diagnostic Page.
12. To verify printer functionality print a SELF TEST PAGE. If SELF TEST prints, then printer is ready for use or Software Installation.
13. If the error is still there, or reoccurs replace the unit

Ink system failure

have you unpluged it from the outlet? can you see any paper stuck?
otherwise you have a bad system board and would cost more to fix than just to by a new one.

Printer HP 5183 (Malaysia) Ink System Failure

Look where the ink cartdridge meets the contacts in the holder and clean off any ink with a paper towel dabed with warm water. there may be blockage on the contacts and the printer thinks your using a refurbeshed cartdirdge. newer printer from dell and HP are made to detect different brand cartdridges and wont print if its not there genuine ink( they love getting money for there expensive Ink) this also voids the warranty if they find out you didnt use there ink.

hope this helps.
