My Sony DVD home theater DAV-HDX265 dvd tray has stopped opening and shows C 31 00 error few cliking noises. But all sound features are working fine with my TV. Please help me fix this issue.
ThanksNew unit only used about 10 times. Both DVD and attached VCR were working fine after setup and the surround sound was great prior to this. Now the unit displays "Please Wait" continually when turned on, and DVD tray will not open. No noises are heard and no error message displays. I can cycle through all component modes with the Function button. Can play VCR, but only get video with no audio. Tried unplugging system for 1/2 hour to reset; no luck. Tried pressing Open/Close and Stop buttons (on unit) while turning volume control to right as suggested in Solution #1, but no luck. There are no discs in the unit. Does this mean the tray is stuck? If so, how do I unstick it? Any help much appreciated... Thanks!
Kevin, When I took the player apart, nothing appeared obviously broken, neither were any of the several belts off-track. I looked at the link you recommended and found nothing directly applicable, as it addressed xbox and samsung products, though I did read it for any general hints. Alas, I'm no techno-geek! ;) I've ordered a new Panasonic system and hope it performs better! Probably the gear that opens and closes the drive is broken, Also have to check the belt is correctly placed on the gears.
You have open the player to find the exact reason.

The error code C 31 00 on Sony DVD Home Theater System usually indicates a mechanical issue with the disc changer mechanism. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Turn off the power to the DVD Home Theater System and unplug it from the wall outlet.
Wait for a few minutes, then plug the system back in and turn it on.
Press the "Eject" button on the remote or the unit to try to eject the disc tray.
Gently try to move the disc tray by hand to see if it is stuck or obstructed.
If the disc tray does not move, or if you hear any unusual noises, it may indicate a more serious mechanical issue that requires repair.
If none of these steps resolves the issue, it's recommended to contact Sony customer support or a qualified technician for further assistance.
well, if you hearing clicks is possible that you will only be able to fix by opening and looking if the door has been misplaced..... is possible that a cd is stuck and you need to open to fix.....
...
...
another way to fix is to press and hold Eject and Stop ON THE UNIT! while turning the nub to the right (volume up)
that will open the the service unlocking the system!!!!! THAT WILL ONLY WORK if the door or a cd is NOT stuck on it
There is a gear underneath the tray that may be broken or possibly the open close detect switch nay be bad. You will have to remove the tray, you will then see that gear.
hehehe, its funny problem. let me try to help you.
1- Press Power to turn the set ON.
2- select DVD function.
3- press STOP and EJECT buttons for Five (5) Seconds.
4- the message UNLOCKED will display.
Enjoy n have nice day ;)
1st of all, unplug the set. Open top cover of unit and go to Optical Lens. Push it outward and inward for 2-3 times. Place top cover back. Hope problem will be solved.
