My radio stopped working in my Mitsubishi Mirage 2001. It is a Clarion cd player/radio that came standard with the car. The CD player works fine and sometimes the radio works on and off and then goes again...fuses are all fine, is it a loose wire? The cigarette lighter stopped around the same time as my radio...some connection?

Check behind the dash for loose wiring connections. Check for bulkhead connectors that could have possibly come partially apart. Check for any under dash grounds that are ready to break or have become frayed.

check the jack in the back of the stereo,it may not be seated all the way.hope this helps.otherwise you may have an internal problem with the unit itself.

Contacted local dodge dealer about my in dash 6-disc changer problem. Chrysler seems to have an "exchange" program. They will remove your existing radio, install a "factory reconditioned" unit and send yours in to be repaired and sold to someone else. The dealer told me that my CD's would EVENTUALLY be returned to me from Chrysler. The cost I was given was $265 plus sales tax for the exchange unit, and the labor to remove and reinstall. He said about a half hour labor. Compare this to the $604 for a factory new unit. Hope this helps everyone with this problem. I was told by the Service advisor that it is common for this problem.

It might be a Bose system. I usually remove stuck CD's by grasping the edge with a pair of tweezers and pulling slowly, there will be some resistance. Try to reset first by removing the fuse for about 30 seconds and after it powers up again (don't turn it on yet) push the eject button.
