Homelite weed trimmer bogs down and smothers out quits running

This could be a number of things. Clogged air filter/fuel filter/carburetor/fuel tank lid breather hole, cracked fuel line or primer bulb, or clogged spark arrestor in muffler. Here's some links that will help to change the bulb, fuel cap, fuel lines, rebuild carb, replace spark arrestor, and troubleshoot.

Homelite string trimmer 275, which fuel line do you attach the fuel filter to?

its the line to the carb You have to find the one in the fuel tank Its more than likely the longest one If it hasnt been removed it will have the old filter attached to it already. if not it will be the longest one

I have a 25cc homelite weed trimmer.... the fuel line is loose in the fuel tank... how do i get it back in

You will need the correct size fuel line first. Follow this:

1. Remove the old filter/weight from the fuel tank.
2. Take a new fuel line piece about 8 inches long and cut about a 45 degree angle cut on one end.
3. Lightly moisten the cut end of the fuel line and insert it into the tank from the outside, pushing it in while turning as far as possible.
4. Use a needle nose plyers to reach in and pull the line to the fuel line cap. Cut the line and replace the filter.
5. Pull the line back the way you put it in leaving about 4 inches within the tank and re-attach to the carburetor or primer bulb (depending on the actual model/age)

It will work, but it is extreemly important to have the correct size fuel line to work with.

My homelite string trimmmer will not run when choke is run position. it will run, but not at full throtle, when choke is set between full choke and half-choke.

you've got a fuel system issue , most likely carb problem, if this a newer trimmer it will likely need the carburetor replaced or adjusted, also check for cracking fuel lines or signs of old fuel varnish in the tank

Primer button on homelite gas trimmer

It's possibly the filter, can't help there. I would check for a split line or loose connection between the tank and bulb and even splits in the bulb itself.

How do you replace the fuel filter on a homelite st 145? the hose snapped and the filter fell into the fuel tank. Thanks

Take the old piece of fuel line and have the vendor match the size. Buy 1 ft. so that you have a little extra to work with. Cut fuel line at an angle. This will allow for easier insertion into the hole in the gas tank. Feed the line through until you can pull it out of the opening where the gas cap is. Cut the line off square. Attach the fuel filter. Pull the line back through until it rests comfortably on the bottom of the tank. Assemble the trimmer. You will then get a more accurate measurement to the carburetor.

Fuel Lines leak where they pass through opening into tank

i had the same problem with my trimmer. you could replace the fuel line but if you don't want to hassle with fishing it thru the hole i suggest going to homelite.com and ordering the gas tank. it only cost me $18 with shipping and came with everything (tank, lines-with fuel filter, and gas cap). all you need to do is take out the 4 bolts on back of trimmer and the 2 top bolts holding the housing together. be careful not to nick any gaskets especially the one behind the 4 bolts. this is the crankcase gasket. also don't get anything in the crankcase that will score it as this will ruin the trimmer. also there are 3 spacer gaskets that go in the holes in the fuel tank and i believe a plastic heat shield between the gas tank and the bottom of the trimmer. you will see this when you take the tank off. just be careful and be sure all the bolts get tightend up (especially the 4 on the back as this is the back side of the crankcase). it only took me 15 min to replace it and the trimmer runs great. all the above info is if you have a trimmer with the gas tank on bottom. if the tank and gas cap are on top hopefully someone else will be able to help.

good luck
