We've replaced a GE JVM2070 with an LG LMV1813 microwave. The unit is vented out the back, but when new unit installed with the microwave damper attached it makes a horrific noise. Wen damper is removed it runs perfectly but we get massive cold air into the kitchen. Any suggestions on how to remedy this?

I would suggest that you carefully review the installation instructions step by step and be sure your filters are installed properly.

You should also inspect your outside vent cover and do an air flow test or visual inspection of the entire length of the ductwork.

SOURCE: New microwave; loud fan when heating items

Update: I took it back. After speaking to GE, they said that's just how it is, there is no way to silence or quiet it. I took it back and bought an LG. I love it!

SOURCE: burning odor, no heat

A burning smell along with a different sound (growl) USUALLY indicates a breakdown in the High Voltage Side. This is not a direct short (short circuit) or the line fuse would have blown shutting everything down. The High Voltage Side is made up of-- The Secondary ,or High Voltage Side of The High Voltage Transformer, A High Voltage Diode, A High Voltage Capacitor, and The Magnetron. If The High Voltage Transformer is the problem it will smell like a florescent light ballast burning, and will smell each time you turn on the MW. A HV Diode burns and opens, thus no more smell. A HV Capacitor usually does not burn nor does the Magnetron. There is no Cheap-Fix unless you can see that the HV Diode is burned into and you can get to it to replace. CAUTION: Always unplug from power before attempting to repair. NOTE: If you replace a Diode make sure it goes back in the same direction it came out. Yes there is a front and back.

SOURCE: GE jvm2070 microwave touch panel does not work,

The only thing you can do is re set the main board, unplug the unit fot a minimum of 1 hour then try it again, if not you main board is out (this is caused by replacing the light bulbs with out unplugging the micro most of the time) If it is not in warranty I would advise to replace rether than repair, you get an average of 7 years out of them these days. Good luck

How do I replace the bulb in my GE JVM2070?

Hi,
There are two screws holding the vent from the top, not front, that's why you don't see them. After you remowe them try to slide the vent to the left, it will move about 1/8" just enough to unlatch it and you can remove it. Your light bulb is hidden under a metal tin cover. Depress a small plastc latch in front of it and lift the cover...you light bulb is right there...good luck!

Is there a filter that goes into the vent of GE Spacemaker 2.0 profile microwave (model# JVM2070SK01)?

You should first refer to your owner's manual. If for some reason you don't have it, you can download it here free.

See page 38 and 39 of the manual for info on the filters.

If your oven is set up to vent outside, it will have cleanable grease filters.

If it is set up to recirculate, it will have a charcoal filter which cannot be cleaned, but must be replaced about every 60 days.

It is part number WB2X10956 and you can order it and other parts and accessories here.

My unit will shut down completely periodically

Some appliances do not work well when used on a gfci protected circuits. Move the microwave to an outlet that is not reqiured to be gfci protected and it should work fine . If you do not have a dedicated outlet for your microwave , it is a good idea to install one , or have an electrician install one for you.

Can this microwave be vented to the outside?

Yes, this microwave will vent either out through the top or the back. A damper will be needed if it was not saved when the unit was installed. A list of other items are listed in the installation instructions at this link To GE.

Replacing charcoal filter on ge jvm2070

Please be sure the oven is unplugged.

There are two Phillips head screws on the very top of the outside of the cabinet above the vent.

When they're removed the vent grille just snaps out.

In some cases, an installer may have installed the oven so that the screws are covered up by the bottom cabinet. I hope that's not the case here...
