Change base log

The 30XIIS only calculates logs to base e (natural log, ln) and base 10 (common log, log). However logs to any base can be calculated indirectly.
To calculate log base b of x, calculate either log(x)/log(b) or ln(x)/ln(b).
tip

The Log function!!

I calculators you can't change or set the base of 'log' is default 10 so you need to know these:

log x (base y) = log x / log y

when log x it's automatic log x (base 10) here some examples:

log 8 (base 2) = log 8 / log 2
log 27 (base 3) = log 27 / log 3

and the base it's default 10 again, and that is how you need to use it in calculators(no bases), and here the explanation to this:

log x (base y) = log x (base 10) / log y (base 10) = (log x / log 10) / (log y / log 10) = (log x / log 10) * (log 10 / log y) = log x / log y

here so other stuff about 'log' :

log (x*y) = log x + log y
log (x/y) = log x - log y

Hope it's helped

Change log base

The TI-30XA calculates logarithms to base e and base 10. You can calculate the log of x to any base b by calculating the logarithm of x and dividing it by the logarithm of b: log(x)/log(b) or ln(x)/ln(b).

Change log base

The 30XA only calculates logs to base e (LN) and base 10 (LOG). However you can calculate the log of x to any base b simply by calculating log(x)/log(b) or ln(x)/ln(b)

Change base log

The calculator handles logarithms to base e and base 10. You can calculate the log of x to any base b by dividing the log of x by the log of b. Calculate log(x)/log(b) or ln(x)/ln(b).

Change base log

The TI 86 has two logarithmic functions: natural logarithm (ln) and common (decimal) logarithms (log). If you need the logarithm in any other base than e or 10 you need to use one of the two equivalent expressions
log_b(x) =ln(x)/ln(b) =log(x)/log(b)
Here b is the value of the base of the logarithm and x is the argument (the value whose logarithm you are seeking). Of course the argument x must be a positive number.
Note: On the TI 86 the log function can calculate the logarithm of a complex number, according to the manual.

I need help with a change of base formula problem.

It's simple here some logs:

log x base y = log x / log y
log (x*y) = log x + log y
log (x/y) = log x - log y
you just need to know that the default base of log in calculators is 10, so log x mean
log x base 10 = log x / log 10,
so write log x / log y for log x base y example:
log 8 base 2 = log 8 / log 2 that is how you write it on calculator, hope it was helpful

Random based logarithms

to do logarithms with other bases, use change-of-base. let's say you want to do log base 5 of 25. for clarity i'll write this as log(5) 25. you would have to do log(10) 25 / log(10) 5 to get 2. key sequence: [LOG], 2, 5, ), / (divide), [LOG], 5, )

How do i perform the calculation of log (base 2) 8? The answer should be 3....that is it is the inverse calculation of 2 cubed =8. Can any one help with the log calculation?

Yes look you can't enter the base in calculators it's default 10 so use:
log x base y = log x / log y
log (x*y) = log x + log y
log (x/y) = log x - log y
so instead of log 8 base 2 input log 8 / log 2 it's easy
hope you understand :)

Can't chang the logbase

It's 2*3=6 but about the base, you can't change it in the calculators the default base it's 10 so log x it's Logbase 10^x here some logs:

log x base y = log x / log y
log (x*y) = log x + log y
log (x/y) = log x - log y
in your example log 9 base 3 = log 9 / log 3 etc.
hope you get it, and it was helpful
