SOURCE: sony vpl-cx10 ,,powers up but no light

If the new lamp didn't make a difference, it is most likely your lamp ballast that needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: will not turn on

I have just solved this problem. The solution for me was a capacitor in the second PCB of the primary power supply. The Cap was a 2200uf @ 10 volt. Once I replaced this the Projector powered up fine.

SOURCE: Sony Vega KDF-E5OA10,picture will not come on, tv goes off.

There is a real good chance that the lamp fan is not turning. If you look with a flashlight in the vent on the left side looking at the rear of the set and have someone turn on the unit, see if it spins. if it doesnt, the protect circuit in the tv will not let the set turn on. Replacing the fan will cure the proplem if it is not turning.
Hope this helps,

SOURCE: power light flashed red 4 times then repeats no pic,new bulb/fan!

Check the fan that cools the bulb. It is directly behing the bulb. It should turn on when the power comes on. It apparently has a safety to protect your tv(and home). mine is in the process of going out. looking for online solutions as we speak.

Make sure its an original Osram or Philips bulb inside the housing. If its a cheap lamp it will act this way. If it is an original lamp, then you may have a power supply issue. It shouldn't affect your TV but you may want to try resetting the lamp timer by following the instructions that came with the lamp.

TY-LA1001 Timer reset

While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the number 0 button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds.

A continuous flashing red light with the word LAMP on it would definitely mean you're going to need to spend a few bucks on a new lamp....or for a few more, upgrade to a TV from this century that doesn't require lamp changes :)

Changed lamp green light comes tv plays for about 1 or 2 minutes tv goes blank red flashes 3 times.

Not 100% sure but I am currently looking into this. 2 things it might be which are most probable. I replaced my lamp a few years back with no issues. This time around I figured I'd be proactive and bought a new lamp as my current one was going dim. Not unusable but I could tell. Lamp arrived and I put it in. Started up, great! Then after a few minutes it shut down and the red LED would blink 3 times. I removed the lamp and replaced it after unplugging the tv and turned it on. This time it ran about 20 minutes and same thing! Tried a third time and had the same thing. So I put the old bulb back in, and this time it didn't even turn on! I removed it and with a flashlight looked in there. There are two safety switches. The first is a very small pressure switch at the base of where the bulb interfaces to the TV. That switch ensures the bulb housing is seated. Secondly there is a switch in the rear side where the second door with the lever lock is. When you rotate it the switch is engaged. I replaced the housing carefully and made sure everything was tightly seated. The tv has been on for about an hour now no issues with the old bulb.

I have two theories and am leaning toward the second one I will suggest. One is that the bulb is somehow overheating as it is newer and brighter, or is somehow defective. The other theory is that as the bulb heats up the switch might be getting dislodged. I am leaning towards this given that it is working with the old bulb. But I am not certain. Soon I will try the new bulb again and may even attempt to slightly bend the switch out a little so that it is easier to engage.

Perhaps it needs the bulb, but there is also a good possibility that the lamp fan is getting clogged and shutting down the set. This is NOT the fan you see in the back, instead, it is above the lamp, and is a small blower-type fan, that tends to clog with dust. You CAN check this, when you open the lamp door, you can see the blower wheel, and if it is all dusty, it needs to be cleaned out--but do NOT just blow it out, or you might clog the engine!! It needs to be removed, and cleaned out of the set.

But first...if the blower is not too dirty...try another lamp.

Sound went out, tv turned off, red light flashing...

The Lamp being bad as well as one of the three fans in the unit not turning could also cause the problem.
