I have a mac and a leapfrog didj

Hey Jackiedonder!
I, too, have a mac and I've been having the same problem. In fact, I thought we had a faulty Didj, and I broke down and bought a second one. The second one is having the same issue. Unfortunately, Leapfrog doesn't address this issue online, and their customer service is only available on Monday from 9:00 -5:00 and Friday from 9:00 - 3:00. Seriously? I can't sit at work on the phone, trying to solve the problems with my child's game. I'm extremely disappointed with this product, and with the availability of help. It's turned out to be a big fat pain in the $@!. If you still have your receipt, I'd return it as fast as you can. Nintendo DS, anyone?

Didj will turn on but Warning screen is just frozen.

Try replacing batteries with fresh non-rechargable batteries.

Didj needs a tuneup! Bet when I plugged it in to the computer with usb it installed on the computer but the Didj never goes off downloading in progress. Ive tried on two diffrent computers and cant figure...

I bought my 2 for my grandsons for Christmas and both had the same problem. I Googled LeapFrog Connect and downloaded it. After you download it, plug the unit up to your PC with the USB cable that came with it. When you start LF Connect, it will tell you that there is an update for your Didj. Follow the prompts and you should not have any problems.

Didj will turn on but Warning screen is just frozen.

I had the same problem. What you need to do is open the Leapfrog connect and then plug your DIDJ into the computer. You also need to plug it in with the AC adapter as this takes time and the first time I tried the batteries died. So plug it in or put new batteries in it. Now just leave it sit plugged into your computer with the Leapfrog connect program open. It took mine almost 2 hours just sitting on the white Warning screen then if finally connected and updated the software and is now working fine. Hope this helps.

Can not get a game to play

I just got the Sonic game to play again. Unfortunately, I had to reset the Didj--i.e., erase all the contents, including "Jet Pack Heroes" and my son's profile. Basically, I had to reset it to factory settings.

So all the stuff we worked on is lost, but at least he can play Sonic.

I got the instructions here:
http://community.leapfrog.com/blog-entry/Bad-Christmas-Presents/Didj-Needs-Tune/580000606

And here are the instructions:

"Launch LeapFrog Connect
  1. Press the "Ctrl + Shift + R" keys on the keyboard
  2. A window will open that will say "connect the device you would like to reset"
  3. Connect the Didj and turn it on
  4. This will reset the Didj to the factory settings"
It didn't work exactly like this, but that's the command you want to use to reset it when connected to the computer via USB. You'll know when it's resetting--it takes a good 5-10 minutes and very clearly tells you that you're resetting.

Hope this helps!

Problem with didj

QUICK Summary:
- Download and install "Leapfrog Connect" manually.
- Wipe/reset your DIDJ (maybe...)
- Install the free game.

LONG Summary:
Like most people here on the forums and question boards, the didj hung or failed to download the update: "Download failed. Please try again."
I found that the .EXE from the CD, created a folder in the C drive "C:\Program Files\LeapFrog\log", where the file name was "Sniffer_*date*_*time*.log" Example: Sniffer_090102_1916.log
In this log file, there were two references to the remote files it had to download (in the display window, it says 101 Mb. So the two files below add up to about that much):
http://download.leapfrog.com/leapfrogconnect/PC/didj/DidjPlugin.exe (78Mbs)
http://download.leapfrog.com/leapfrogconnect/PC/UPCInstaller.exe (25 Mbs)
The DidjPlugin.exe is the "Leapfrog Connect" installer, while "UPCInstaller.exe" is the free Jetpack Heroes game.

I cancelled the hung or timed out program launched from the CD, rebooted the PC, and then proceeded to download these two files manually.
After downloading these two files, I double-clicked each one. There was no dialog box or confirmation or license agreement page, destination folder, etc, etc, etc. This was a 'silent' installation, with
no prompts (save for the Windows security prompt: "Are you sure you want to run ...exe?"
I then proceeded to wipe the handheld (because it was stuck on "Downloading Update, please wait...).

Launch Leapfrog Connect:
1) Press the "Ctrl + Shift + R" keys in sequence and hold them down.
2) This should open a window that says "Connect the device you would like to reset".
3) Connect the Didj.
4) Eject the Didj when done.
5) Recreate your player profiles on the Didj and connect again.

I could be wrong, but wiping the didj did not erase the free game. I don't remember, but there was a point to sync the didj and then the game was there... Anyways...
After restarting the didj and creating a new profile, connecting to Leapfrog Connect, the didj should be good to go.

I do have a couple questions:
Why only have a small 5Mb self-extracting installer on the CD? Why not include the larger (75-78Mb) "Leapfrog Connect" on the CD?
Why not have the free game ALREADY installed on the didj? That way, when it comes out of the box brand new, you get to start playing right away...

New Didj keeps shutting down

We were having the same problem; my son (an we) were getting very frustrated! I finally tried to reboot the game and it seems to have worked. Take a paperclip and bend it; place the point in the small circular opening in the back of the game (there is two arrows next to the opening). We just did this and my son played past the point where it would shut down. The manual said that doing this would erase all of the memory...this didn't seem to happen.

Hope this helps!
