How many times this standby/power light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it carefully. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy. My Sony 40" NSX-40GT1 -
My Sony 40" NSX-40GT1 - I plus it in. It clicks, it waits a few seconds and then I get 2 red blinks, wait 4 or 5 seconds 2 red blinks, and continues this way. If I hit the POWER button it will turn green for several seconds and then blink red again, 2 red blinks, wait 2 red blinks wait.
I removed the cover. Checked for any burns or damage. I unseated each connection and reseated them. When done. Same code.
I then unseated each connection at a time, until the red blink stopped so whoo hoo, I found the current to the red light. Anyway found nothing that I could do anything about inside. and I don't know how to find out what the specific. 2 red blinks over and over means. I would like to order the most obvious part and replace it first. I can fix computers. Replace tiny netbook parts, screens, and have keep my laptops up and running. But I can find no help on this Sony TV.
And it is too heavy for me to take anywhere or mail off for repair.

Five blinks - AKB
circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks
for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function.
Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761
and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on
the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning
up screen slightly.
