Do you have enough black ink? Disconnect cable to and from printer to the computer and reconnect. If no luck, clean cartridge using tool button. Alligne cartridge using tool button. good luck

SOURCE: Canon pixma mp210 printer -

Dear merryan,

This printer uses FINE cartridge which has memory chip inside that store ink level data. Once the cartridge is EMPTY we cannot restore this data to be FULL even though we physically refill ink until FULL. So the printer keep displays NO INK warning.

Similar with using compatible cartridge, NO INK warning still remain because ink level data has been recorded as empty. Why?. Here is the explanation. As far as I know no third party compatible cartridge produced this printer since canon protect it with the chip. Compatible cartridge that sold in the market is refurbish cartridge which repacked with another brand.

To fix this problem we need to deactivate ink level detection function by holding down STOP/RESET button for about 9 seconds or more for each cartridge. The consequence of this is ink level become UNKNOWN.
Hope this will be helpful to you

Regards,

Xanda

SOURCE: The black ink won't print on my canon iP5200.

Try removing the cartridge and cleaning the cartridge contacts in the printer with a cotton swab dampened with isopropyl alcohol. When the contacts are dry, lightly scrub them with a white pencil eraser (the red ones are too coarse and may cause more problems), then wipe clean with a dry cotton swab.

If that doesn't help, open up the printer and find the other end of the ribbon cable connected to the print head carrier. There is often some sort of locking clamp on that connector. Unlock it, pull out the ribbon cable and clean the contacts on that end, then reassemble. (The lock may be a sliding sleeve around the cable (it only comes out about a millimeter) or a flip-up plate. If there is nothing like that, the cable is a friction fit and pulls out with a small amount of force. Some very cheap printers use a permanently attached connection).

Explanation: It is possible that there is a second drive voltage to the print heads that isn't connecting, but its failure doesn't prevent normal communications to the cartridge using the logic level voltage.

Error message that blinks E 1 6. Help!

This error indicates replacement of ink cartridge. You can try to reset the printer by turning power off and then switch it on after 20 seconds. If this works, great, else you will have to get new ink cartridge.

The manual for your All In One device is available at the link below:

My printer says E 5

Try reseating the ink cartridges. The error references to either reseating or refilling the ink cartridges.
Since you have mentioned that it worked before with only black cartridge, try reseating both and check.

Hi, my canon pixma mp210 shows error 61 or 16 after refilling black ink... ? thanks!

Dear cappina,
Error code E16 indicates that remaining ink is unknown. It is common problem in refilling the cartridge. To fix this problem you need to deactivate ink level detection function. Follow this procedure: press and hold STOP/RESET button for about 9 seconds or more then release it. Now E16 has disappeared and the printer should work properly. As consequence, ink volume in panel become UNKNOWN. No problem. It will be back to normal condition when you replace the cartridge with new one.
