So I found the frequency codes for the T5500 and T6530 that we own, and we want to program our GP340s to talk to them.
What if they are using one of the interference codes? Does the Motorola GP340, on that channel, roughly translate to '0' for the privacy code?
If your GP340 is a UHF model, YES, you can have it programmed to match your TalkAbout radios. And yes, the GP340 has programmable privacy code capability.
If you do not know if your GP340 is VHF or UHF, you can tell by looking the model number, it will contain the following pattern: __H25RCC4AN3__. UHF models will have the letter R after the "25". VHF models will have the letter K.
When you have your GP340 programmed, the power setting will need to be turned down to the appropriate level to match the TalkAbout radios. Both for legal reasons, and also to protect your TalkAbout radios. You will not want the powerful GP340 to overpower the PA (power amp) in your TalkAbout radios.
Motorola invented this code thing about 30 years ago. They call it "Private Line", other call it CTCSS. Sure that all Motorla radios suport these codes, even the much more expensive GP340. Anyway, you need a dealer to programm frequency and code into the GP340. they are then fixed and cannot be user changed

We know that ours are UHF, so we know that will work. Not certain how I would include a privacy code?
