SOURCE: Lutron Dimmer Probelm

You may want to consider getting an "electronic" dimmer vs. a manual knob or slider. Consider using a Maestro (MA-600-XX where XX is the color). The Maestro fits into a decora opening so you may also want to get a new wallplate (Lutron makes these in a screwless version: CW-1-XX where XX is the color).
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Short in light fixture and Lutron switch no longer

If the dimmer switch worked for a while after replacing the fixture, it could be that the new fixture has a higher wattage and overloaded the dimmer switch "burning it out".

Dimmer switches are notorious for not living up to their rated wattage, and most will eventually "go bad" even if they are not overloaded.

SOURCE: replaced existing Lutron skylark low voltage dimmer

You will need to return the 3-way dimmer and get a single pole dimmer, as the Lutron Skylark series is suspectible to failure if connected to a live circuit first, or misconnected at intial installation. As an electrician, I ceased using these dimmers years ago, due to the rash of call-backs by customers and went with Leviton togglers and have had excellent results.

If you purchased it at a 'big box' store, they will accept the return as a defective item, as they have national agreements with their suppliers to accept customer returns. Just tell them it didn't work and you want a store credit, you can then purchase the lower priced single pole dimmer you need and save some money in the process too.

Hope you find this Very Helpful - best regards!

SOURCE: My Lutron dimmer/lights suddenly will not turn on.

Indicator light is OFF.
Either dimmer stopped working or power to dimmer is off.
Check if electricity is present inside box.
Check nearby electrical plug to see if everything nearby has power.
Swap dimmer with regular switch and see if lights turn ON.
Check dimmer wires: if wires to dimmer are pushed into 'quick connect' holes on back of dimmer, these wires can get loose.
If dimmer is connected by wire nut, sometimes a wire can pull loose.
If no electricity is inside the box, and breaker is ON, then there is a loose wire inside one of the boxes on that circuit and electrician has to track back until loose wire is discovered.

Replacement parts for in-wall devices are not made.
If new dimmer is necessary, consider lighting factors:
Total wattage of lights. New dimmer has watt rating.
Type of lights. Dimmers specify florescent or tungsten (incandescent) or both.
Single-pole and 3-way. If two dimmers control same lights, one is control dimmer, other is companion dimmer.

There is a delay for light to come on when dimmer switch is turned on

That is normal with a lot of dimers. If you have LED lamps try a different brand. If tungsten give the filament time to warm up. I think you will find the dimmer it is set the longer for them to come on.

I have a Lutron Skylark SLV-600p and I want to connect it to control the ceiling fan with light fixture. The chain broke on the ceiling fan and its an old model which the device is inside the light box...

1) It appears this dimmer is not for fan motor.
Dimmer manual says:
"... do not use to control receptacles, fluorescent lighting fixtures, or motor-driven appliances."
http://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/030448c.pdf

2) Call Lutron tech support directly:
1-800-523-9466

3) You can replace the pull chain switch to the fan with a bit of dis-assembly and then purchase of new 3-way fan switch at home center. If you decide to do that, add a comment and we can talk details.

4) In order to get a fan-light control to operate from your switch location, you need the following things:
-Fan has to set on high, so unscrew brass part where chain attaches to fan and see if you can grab end of pull chain, and set fan to high.
-Switch box has to be set up to control the light and fan separately. It sounds like your switch box has that capability with a black wire going to light and red wire to fan.
-You need a Lutron combo control that is specifically for controlling ceiling fan, and light fixture.
Call Lutron for best choice.

Last option: 5) Replace fan with new one from home center.

Add a comment if you order the Lutron combo control and I will help you test the wiring and get it hooked up.

Our lutron dimmer switch only has a yellow light and no green light. It obviously will not turn on any of the lights it is connected too. We have flipped all the breakers and everything is good. All the...

I would call their tech support center for clarification, because what you descirbe doesn't immediately make sense. The only light that a Diva has should be a yellow glow through the back of the plastic. If you're talking about a green light, then maybe you mean a Maestro, but there's no yellow light on a Maestro... it's making me think you may have a different manufacturer.

Regardless, call tech support to figure it out. They're at 1-800-523-9466 and available 24/7.

Lutron technical support 1.800.523.9466

geno_3245_107.jpg

You said pendant lights blew out.
How many total watts were those lights?
Did you remove aluminum break-away fins on side of device to match wattage?

Front indicator can be pulled out to cut power to circuit.
This is called FASS switch.
Try pulling out FASS switch and then pushing it back to see if it re-sets device.
Click breaker on-off to see if it resets device.
You replaced a single-pole switch that has two wires plug ground wire.
Each wire from switch goes to either screw on MAW-600 so it's hard to go wrong there.
Bare copper goes to green ground screw.
Otherwise, it looks like tech support is next step: 1800-523-9466

Night light in lutron wall switch flashing can it be fixed and how

Unfortunately, no. Its a neon bulb that gets soldered into the product, so its not something that can be tweaked or replaced. My suggestion would be to call their tech support number 1-800-523-9466, and see if you can get them to replace the whole dimmer.

I don't think that model is for a 3 way switch . It is for fan speed control only. Green is ground, and one incoming and one outgoing "hot" wire. You will need a different part number such as:

How to install

Lutron S2-LFSQ is made to control one ceiling paddle fan & 1 light. Switch will not work on florescent lights.
See manual

To use this product, your fan and light must already be controlled by 2 separate switches.

If you have just one switch that turns on the light & fan together, the S2-LFSQ will not work (without additional wiring).

Okay, you have two switches. One switch turns fan on-and-off. The other switch turns light on-and-off.

Here is wiring diagram from manual: See diagram larger

8263536.jpg

Here's how to wire:
-Before disconnecting wires from existing switches, mark each wire with tape and pen.
-There is one wire that feeds power to both switches > mark this the 'Hot wire' and it connects to Lutron black wire (if you are unsure about this wire, remove switches, separate wires, turn on power and test each wire to bare ground, tape tester leads to wood sticks so hands are away from power, Tester lights up on Hot wire)
-The switch that controls fan > mark this the 'Fan wire' and it will connect to Lutron Yellow wire
-the switch that controls light > mark this the 'light wire' and it will connect to Lutron Red wire
-Lutron Green wire or bare wire connects to bare ground wire.

Have a Lutron Skylark SF-10P need to wire to existing 3 wires

You have to have a special ballast on the light to dim fluorescent light fixtures. You also have to have a special dimmer.
