Working on another laptop at work, put my sandisk cruzer 16gb and I'm not being prompted to open. I have the same problem. Drive lights up but is not recognized by windows 7 OS. Drive is easily read in my Vista machine and my XP machine. I can see the drive in disk management (in windows 7) and it says unallocated. I tried formatting the drive in windows 7 and it would not format FAT32. I was able to reformat it in windows XP machine and then I could read it in the windows 7 machine. However, after a few days and after writing some more files to it I can no longer see it in the windows 7 machine. My windows 7 computer has no problems reading other flash drives including other Sandisk cruzer micro drives. Just this one 16 Gb micro drive has the problem and only with windows 7 OS. Any thoughts?

Did you reformat as NTFS instead of the default FAT32? FAT32 can only transfer files up to 4.0Gb in size. If you reformat as NTFS, you can move larger files.

Dont worry about being prompted, that is an OS option and you may of turned off by accident. When you insert the flash drive into your USB port, does th elight on the drive ligh up? If not your flash drive may of gone bad.
If it does light up, click on "My Computer" and see if it shows up there.
