I have a Toro two stage snow thrower that has an auger issue..left just spins as it want the right moves snow....how do I fix...the machine is 13 years old can't find any answers....help please.

The shaft has shier pins that break when an object gets caught in the auger. This prevents further damage. You will need to replace that pin. Make sure you stop the blower, unplug the spark plug before working on it. The pin holds the auger to the shaft. Turn the auger until you see the hole through the shaft and insert a new shier pin.

Ccr powerlite gas snowblower it barely shoot out snow when i check the front the snow is piled up in front of the auger

THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE AUGER IS NOT MOVING CHECK TO SEE IF THE AUGER IS MOVING YOU MAY HAVE A BELT THAT IS SLIPPING OR A BROKEN BELT

Auger won't stop

Open up plastic cover over belts. There is a pulley that moves against belt to engage front auger. There is a spring that hold it in the off position and when you pull the handle it moves that pulley.Sounds like spring broke or slipped off.

The snow blower orger gets stuck when trying to remove snow

Check to see if the shear pins are broken off if so remove any fragments and replace. if not..With the engine off, try moving the auger with the handle engaged (you may need to have someone hold the handle while you wiggle the auger. If the auger spins freely without moving the belt mechanism you have either a shear pin issue or shaft breakage if it will not move or moves with great difficulty work your way back through the machine looking for the obstruction or damage. If the auger moves freely and the belt pulleys etc. move with it you likely need to adjust/ replace the tensioner, control handle or belt.

Snow blower stopped working

With the spark plug disconnected and the key out, try to move the auger from the front. It may be jammed (sometimes a rock). Then look behind the auger at the belts. Of course I'm guessing that you checked the shear pin that goes thru the auger and the shaft

Honda hs55 when handle depressed blower fan moves at fast speedauger turns very slow.if auger makes contact with snow auger and blower fan stopsnew belt was installed no slippage of belt present

I suspect that all is needed is a little adjustment of the rod attached to the handle, which hooks on a lever at the bottom of the snow blower drive axle case. Try adjusting the nut two turns, that will pull the rod a little bit more and engage the rubber faced drive wheel, giving it a snugger connection. If this has been checked or still does not help, then I would check inside the case where the drive axle is located. There is a rubber faced drive wheel (as noted above), that runs against a smooth flat metal pulley. The rubber on the drive wheel could be worn out and not engaging properly. I would also check on the front of the case where you installed new belts to make sure that the brake shoe puck that connects to the auger pulley is not binding or perhaps has flipped out of its normal location.

I have a snow blower which will start up but it won't move forward in the snow nor will it push the snow. Not sure what is wrong. I can manually move the blade around that pushes the snow.

If you start the machine and the axles spin but the augers do not it is because the shear pins are broke. If you look closely you will see the the augers have shear bolts and nuts or shear pins. If you jam a piece of ice or a stick in the augers while they are spinning the bolts will shear so you do not damage the expensive augers or the worm drive gears. If the axle spins with the augers you may have torn up the front worm gear in the front of the auger intake. If you spin the small auger and the large auger moves but when you start and engage the auger nothing happens you will have to remove the under cover and inspect the drive belt pulleys for jammed or broken parts or more commonly broken drive belts.

I have an Ariens 926LE snowblower. The blower spins but the auger spins slowly. It barely throws snow. Some times the auger stops spinning. Shear pins are fine.

Hi, The blower spins at full speed? If it does the belt, pulley, and shaft are good. Look at the shaft from the fan to the gear box while it's running and that shaft should be turning at the speed of the fan.
If the blower spins at full speed and the auger doesn't the most likely problem is the worm gear transmission from the blower shaft to the auger shaft.
A good way to visually inspect this is: With the machine turned off and the spark plug wire unhooked go to the front and try to rotate the auger by hand. If the gear box is good you will only be able to move the auger less than an inch. If the box is bad you will be able to move the auger a lot farther. While you are there recheck your shear pins.
You can also remove the blower drive belt and have someone turn the pulley by hand while you watch the auger. Put resistance on the auger with your gloved hand. If the box is good the auger will move smoothly in you hand. If it is bad, it will ****, move roughly, or stop.
While the other person is turning the pulley and you have some resistance on the auger look closely at the shaft running from the gearbox back to the blower. On some models there is a connecting sleeve and the roll pin that connects the sleeve to the shaft and gearbox will break.
If the gearbox is bad, it will have to be replaced as a complete unit.
Was this helpful? If you have any other questions, please ask.

Snow thrower won't throw snow

the problem could be the snow is to heavy for the motor to keep up, if thats the case you may need to upgrade to a more powerful model or try not to overload it. take it a little slower so the motor can keep up. but try tightening the belt. with your pointer finger push down on the belt it should have about a half inch give, if it moves more than that its too loose and probably slipping under load
