Washer not spinning properly

I have a Roper Washer RAX4232KQ0 that isn't spinning clothes completely dry. I replaced the block a week ago thinking that was the problem and it didn't fix the problem. Now I'm guessing the problem might possibly be the coupling or clutch instead. With a full normal load or small load it spins really slowly therefore leaving the clothes overly wet. To further elaborate on the problem with spinning clothes dry it will only spin 1 or 2 articles of clothing at a time dry and not a full load or even a small load. Your advice is greatly appricated.

With the lid up, set to spin. hold the inside drum with the palm of your hand (be careful and be ready to release lid switch) then trip the lid switch with a screwdriver. It should jerk the tub out of your hand.[release lid switch now] If you can hold the inner drum with no problem but feel some resistance and when you release the drum it will start to spin slowly gaining speed, it is likely a slipping clutch. If it makes no attempt to spin it is likely the coupler or worse.

SOURCE: Roper washer leaves clothes wet after spin cycle.

Thanks, Master Tech; I was having the same problem as Jason. When I put the pen in place, I realized that the motor was running, but the tub wasn't spinning (which I thought it was because of the sound of the motor). So, I put my hand in and gave it a push/spin and it started turning on its own after I did that.. So, I'm going to let it run and see what happens when the cycle is done. At least its a start in the right direction!

SOURCE: RAS6233KQ2 TOP LOAD WASHER WILL NO SPIN CLOTHES

When the clothes are wet at the end of a cycle, check these:
Motor coupler To test the motor coupler, re-start the washer in its spin cycle. Let the machine run for a minute, and then open the lid and notice whether the tub is spinning:

  • If it's spinning when you lift the lid, the coupler is fine.

  • If it isn't spinning--and your machine was produced by Whirlpool®--you may have a broken coupler. Many Whirlpool-made washers use a small, relatively inexpensive device called a motor coupling. This plastic-and-rubber component is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. When that happens, you need to replace it completely.

Spin cycle If the washer doesn't reach its proper spin speed, the clothes may be too wet at the end of a cycle. Check to be sure the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again. If the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt (Maytag®), a worn clutch (GE®/Hotpoint®), or a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Replace the applicable component.

Alternatively, there could be clothes caught between the inner and outer tubs. Read the "It spins but won't pump" section of the "It won't drain" section. Also, there could be other things that cause friction on the drive train. Seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

Siphoning If the water that pumps from the machine goes right back into the machine after the spin cycle, it may be because your washer is siphoning the water from a laundry tub with a slow drain, back into the washer. Try to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is there something stuck in the drain?) Also, be sure the drain hose doesn't reach more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub. If it does, cut off the excess.

Water-inlet valve Water-inlet valves eventually fail. One problem that may develop with a water-inlet valve is that it can no longer completely shut off when the electricity is turned off to it. Then, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub--you may notice that your washer has water in it when you haven't used it for a few days. To fix this, replace the valve.

SOURCE: Roper washer agitator won't spin after kids loaded

Hi,
It sounds like a someone has broke the lid switch to the washer. Below I have attached a picture, Item number 9 would be the part you seek. P# 3949247 Under the control panel you will find a harness that contains 3 wires coming out of the cabinet housing. The colors should be tan, white and green. If you jump the white and tan you unit should run and think the lid switch is working. Safety way is to unplug the unit to by-pass the switch and plug it back in and select spin only. This is only to test, you need a lid switch for safety. You should replace it ASAP if this test works for you.

ROPER WASHER PULLEY SYSTEM WON'T SPIN OR DRAIN

There are a few potential causes for your Roper washer not spinning or draining:
  1. Drive belt: If the drive belt is broken or slipping, it could prevent the tub from spinning. Check the belt for any signs of damage or wear, and make sure it is properly tensioned.
  2. Lid switch: Even though you said the lid switch is ok, it's still worth checking it again as it is responsible for ensuring that the washer will not spin or drain unless the lid is closed.
  3. Motor coupler: The motor coupler connects the motor to the transmission and can wear out over time. If it has failed, the washer won't spin or agitate. Check the coupler for any signs of wear or damage.
  4. Drain pump: A clogged drain pump or pump motor failure can prevent the washer from draining. Check the pump and clean out any debris that may be blocking it.
  5. Control board: The control board could also be a potential culprit, especially if the washer is not completing cycles correctly. Check the board for any signs of damage or malfunction.
  6. Transmission: If none of the above solutions work, there may be an issue with the transmission. This will require a professional repair.
I hope this helps you diagnose and fix the issue with your Roper washer.

My 4 year old roper washer leaves grease on clothes. On spin cycle the machine makes a screaching noise, and the clothes don't spin dry.

Possible that the belt is slipping and also there is some issue with the agitator as the gaps within seems to bring up the dirt or grease mix to the clothes.
So it is important to remove the panel and check the play on the belt, replace if the play is high and check if the agitator bearings are worn out. If so the agitator assembly must be taken out and checked.

The washer is not spinning well...Clothes are partly wet when cycle is completely off...it used also to leak at one time where we can see some water when the cycle is complete...

Hello, when the clothes are partly wet when cycle is complete then check these.
1. Motor coupler
2. Spin cycle

MOTOR COUPLER; To test the motor coupler, restart the washer in it's spin cycle, let the machine runs for a minutes and then open the lid and notice if the tub is spinning: if it's spinning when you lift the lid that means the coupler is fine and if it doesn't spin that means you have to replace it.
SPIN CYCLE: If the washer doesn't reach it's proper spin speed, the cloth may be wet at the end of the cycle, check to be if the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again,if the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt which you have to replace.
Thanks

Roper RAX4232KQ0 maker loud noise at spin cycle and then stops

There are a few things that can go wrong, If the washer doesn't adgitate or spin then probably the coupler is broken, lean the washer back and look under the machine between the motor and transmission you will find the coupler. (very common)

Coupler Part# 285753A $22.95

If its agitating but not spinning, check the lid switch, (easy check just listen for the click when you shut the lid, Or you can bypass it with a jumper wire under the console there are only 2 screw that hold the console down they are philips and either located in the front lower corners or the back lower corners)

Lid switch Part# 3949247 $42.95

If lid switch is good and the motor still doesnt run you might have a bad timer (RARE)
Timer Part# 3954563 $95.95

If you can hear the motor running but its not spinning and you have rulled out the coupler then your probably looking at a clutch (common problem) either the clutch isnt grabbing or the brake isnt releasing both problems solved with the clutch kit

Clutch kit Part# 285785 $44.95

Worst case your looking at a transmission, (uncommon) to rule out, make sure its agitating, then put washer in spin cycle. look under the washer to see if the clutch bell is spinning. if its not then you will need a transmission.

Trans Part# 3360629 $172.95

if its making loud noises when it stops spinnig then the block is bad.

Block Part# 389140 $14.95

Whirlpool thin twin filled with water then stopped!

Not sure about the dryer but there are a couple things that could cause the no draining issue.
You could have a leak or block in your pressure hose. Basically there is a thin, clear tube inside the cabin that attaches to the tub on the lower right side. If this has a leak or is clogged then the washer has problems filling and draining.
The other possible problem is a broken lid switch. This is an easy fix. Basically, the mechanical mechanism that goes down when you close the lid does not work properly so when it comes time to drain, the washer actually thinks the lid is open.
For both of these you would need to open cabin. I posted instructions for that here:

Yes they are only about 40 dollars but if your washer doesn't agitate then the problem would be the "drive motor to transmission coupling"
