Unfortunately that part isn't replaceable unless you happen to have a surface mount solder station. The headphone jack is soldered to the board.

Hi,the problem with my dell inspiron1420 is that suddenly theres no sound..but if pluf in my headphones..it works...pls help..how do i fix this?thx

Hello,
The most common issue when this happens, is not easy to fix. There is a pin in the headphone jack that opens a circuit when you plug the headphones in which turns off the internal speakers. Over time the pin gets worn down and stays in the position even if headphones are not plugged in. This prevents the internal speakers from getting the audio signal.
Some people have had success with poking a pin in the hole and gently prying the pin back a little. I don't recommend you do this though as you may make it worse or short something out. By all means if you want to try that, turn off the laptop first and unplug it from the A/C and take out the battery.
Most cases you will need to send the laptop to DELL for servicing. If the laptop is out of warranty, the repair might not be worth the cost.
This happens a lot and I has happened to one of my Asus Laptops. Very annoying! I feel your pain.
Regards, Chris

One of the headphones don't work, how do I fix it?

See my tip on replacing dodgy cables plugs on headphones. Just click my name. Follow the steps to see if you can pin it down. If all else fails replace the plug as suggested in the Tip.

The sound coming from my right bose on-ear headphones

i think ur headphone wires or its pin at end will be defective..
99%there is no chance of failures in speakers ..
try to replace ur headphone cable with new cable.
just solder the cable with speaker inline pins..

Cant hear anything when i answer the phone . the person ringing me can hear fine.

In order to check your mobiles capability to modulate sound just put your headphone. If you are able to hear the speech through headphone then the problem is with your speaker. If unable to get the speech the problem is with main pcb itself and to repair that you will have to go to service center it will be costly but if you are able to hear through headphone then it will be cheap.

Jack plug broken off

Buy a $4.00 1/8" jack replacement from Radio Shack - part # 274-0869, which has small screw connectors that don't need soldering.
Strip about 1" of the braided insulation at the old jack end, which will expose 4 very small wires: Blue, Green, Red, Copper.

Attach the Green & Copper wires to the tallest pin on the replacement jack.

Attach the Red to the shortest pin, and the Blue to the medium pin.

Remember to slide the jack cover onto the headphone cord before attaching any wires!

This works great, I just did it.
