I had no pic and no sound as well with the lamp light staying on. I have located the lamp and removed it and now looking for a replaces ment. I'm a little scared because it reads that the lamp could explode. It looks as if it has already exploded. You lamp a new lamp. You can find the lamp part number on the side of the TV. If you want to learn more about your lamp, you should have a look at my Tips & Tricks. I hope this was of some assistance.
Replaced the lamp.Buzzing sound,power supply have problem with some transformers in it.After replaced the lamp pic should come back.Power supply reqiure replacing don't know yet.
The lamp is going bad. If it was the thermal fuse it would not be intermittent. It is very common for some Sony sets like yours to do exactly what you describe when the lamp is going bad.
You were told correctly, you have a bad lamp. When the lamp gets old, the reflector becomes cloudy and instead of reflecting the light, it converts it into heat. As the lamp heats, it draws more power, eventually too much power and the set "recycles" because the lamp is drawing too much power. Replace the lamp, use an original Sony lamp as the aftermarket replacements are known troublemakers. If the bulb fixes the problem (and I know it will because I fix these TV's everyday) be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!
