If like my Acer there are three different companies that make the web cam. On the Acer Web site there should be a program you run on the site that tells you what the web cam is and which web cam driver you need to install. It will not work with the wrong driver installed.
At the link below, below the box that says what operating system there is a statement you click on that will download a file that will determine what hardware is in the computer. It should tell you what webcam driver to down load and install.
check if the driver for your web cam is proparly installed if not reinstall it and see. or go to device manager in windoes you'll see an icon for web cam right click trouble shoot
go to device manager, un-install your web cam and re-install with the drivers cd of web cam, also change the port of the cam els the cam may gone
good luck
I have a similar web cam and its working fine ...its not that great in quality ..but I have no problems...try to reset settings on default or ...see if it isnt the optical setting from the cam ...if not ...it might be the operating system ..Im not sure they work on vista ..anyway ...let me know if you want to contact me on yahoo to send you a copy of my driver and try a re-installation remember ..I use it on xp sp3
