I was bought this tv used. When I hooked it up to cable it got channels to 15 and then 19 and the rest would not work. Is there something I need to do to program it. I tried channel set up but no change..
Go to settings manual, go to tuner mode, select CATV, than do an auto-programming or auto channel scan and you will be set. Make sure it is not set to AIR

See if the tuner on the TV has a provision to add both analog AND digital channels as a choice. If so, then select that and then do a new channel search. Ask if the cable company uses standard or irc channel spacing and set your tuner on the TV to match.
If your TV has an On-screen Menu you should be able to access your Tuner controls. Run your auto channel scan and you should pick up your "regular channels". You may be able to de-select the odd channels and show only the ones you want to use.
I would think it is your cable converter. Try hooking the cable directly to the TV without the converter. Pick some channels in the lower range and see if they have the same distortion as the cable converter. Thanks. Let me know what you find.
low band in the tuner is bad .the tuner needs replacing. simple way to fix it use vcr or dvd with tuner
in it use video inpiuts on tv and use the tuner in vcr or dvd. works great
If cable is hooked through cable box with a coaxial cable, then turn tv to ch 3 or ch 4 as appropriate.
If cable is hooked through any other type of cord (red/green/blue or red/white/yellow) use the AV+ or Source button to change your source to Av1, AV2, HDMI, or however you have the cable box hooked to TV (I am assuming your TV is a Philips).
take that tv to a tech you bought that set deffected .or take it back to where you buy it from.but my advice is that you take it back to where you buy it from.as you will pay double.repairs and what you have already paid for the set.good luck
Check the resolution settings on your cable box, you may have to call your cable provider to find out how to get into the settings menu, there is a stretch function in the settings that should make all the lower channels auto fit your screen, also see if there's a p=size button on your remote control, try pushing that when on the channels that have sidebars.
