Zooms in and out while on internet? -- this is a "feature", and it happens because of your use of the TOUCHPAD. Resolved with a "pinch" on the pad -- making your fingers come together to zoom in, pinching fingers apart to zoom out (like an Iphone map application)
Disable the dreadful "pinch-zoom" of the Snyaptics touch pad. How it is supposed to be used is at http://www.synaptics.com/solutions/technology/gestures/touchpad . However, I tried these "gestures" and none of it worked on my touchpad.
On Windows7, one can disable this poor excuse for a feature by going to Control Panel->Hardware and sound->Devices and printers->Mouse->Device Settings->Settings [button half-way down, on the right]->pinch zoom. Then uncheck "enable pinch zoom".
There are two solutions that I am aware of to fix this type of problem. First of all, when you are browsing the internet using Internet Explorer, you can use the toolbar at the top and click the View menu. Go down to Zoom and select zoom in, or choose a % size for your screen. Secondly, when the screen resizes after you touch the touch pad, this is a setting that can be disabled. Go to Start, Control Panel, and look for Mouse. Under the mouse settings, there should be a selection for disabling the touchpad zoom feature. You may also be able to adjust the sensitivity of this feature if you do not want to disable it. On my netbook, if I do a "diagonal pinch" on the touchpad it zooms out. If I draw a diagonal line using two fingers, from the center of the touchpad out to the corners it zooms back in.
You need to disable the touch pad while typing. During typing your palm can accidentally touch the touch pad causing the cursor to 'jump' randomly resulting in the problem.
You have not mentioned the model but on Acer laptops there's a key in the upper row with a 'pad and finger' figure on it. If the figure is in blue, press Fn together with the figure key to disable the touch pad and then again to enable it.
Also on this laptop you can hit Fn+F6 to enable or disable the touchpad as well there should be a touchpad disable button to the right of the power button that can be very easy to accidentally press.
Some laptops have a touch pad lock button, so when typing you don't move the curser or click something and mess **** up lol. Anyways, look on your laptop or in the user mannual for that option.
If you do not, then this works in Windows XP and Vista. Go to Control Panel> Mouse> Settings tab of the device Click <Enable> (or <Disable> to disable)
You need to install the driver for the touch pad.
Download the drivers from the Acer WEB site Make sure you select the model of your laptop and the Vista version of the drivers that match the Windows version that is installed on your laptop. Use this link to get to the Acer support :- http://www.acersupport.com/notebook/index.html
DO THE FOLLOWING AND THERE BE NO MORE FRUSTRATING RANDOM ZOOMS.
step 1: Go to CONTROL PANEL. step 2: under hardware and sound select MOUSE (mouse properties box) step 3: select the DEVICE SETTINGS TAB (at top right) step 4: select SETTINGS. step 5: select the +box next to POINTER MOTION, then under momentum select PINCH.
step 6: DESELECT ENABLE PINCH. step 7: press apply and ok.
ya...i've tried that....but will look again...not able to disable the accidental double finger zoom out zoom in on the touch pad...but I will look again....
