Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. https://homenol.blogspot.com/ https://elektrotricks.blogspot.com/ http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty. Search the sites by type in the brand name of your set, in its search box at the right column. View it on a desktop or in web View by mobile. Mobile view has no search box.
Not good. You may have a tab failure. A repair shop may be able to diagnose and repair this, but most likely the lcd panel is broken. The panel is the most expensive part of flat tv's. A new panel will cost more than a used tv.
I'm guessing that you're trying to connect to another CPU screen or a TV via HDMI... This is what you need to do (If you're running Windows 7).
1) Open Control Pannel
2) In the search bar in the upper right hand corner type "Connect to a projector" (Without the quotations)
3) Select the option Connect to a projector
4) A selection box will appear. Select the option that you want.

Had this problem also when I rebooted my Time Warner Cable box. Unplug everything from the wall including power strip and wait 60 seconds then plug back in and turn everything back on. Worked for me and havent had a problem since. Time Warner does not know what causes this yet.
Had same issue with my LG so I trouble shot the issue by noticing the green square would disappear if I switched to dvd(HDMI-2 ) Or HDMI-3. Which lead me to believe it was being generated by my Xfinity box (HDMI-1. So I first rebooted box. With no success I then unplugged box all together. Tah Dahhh! Problem fixed. Hope this helps.
