good pressure but no suction indicates that the pump is pumping but the pumped water has nowhere to go

Either your Filters Valve setting is in the wrong position, or your filters valve needs to be rebuilt or replaced. (valve diverter or and/or valve gasket)
they have a big spring in them, so with 2 big C clamps you can compress the spring to get it apart to service, warning use safety glasses for every one involved !!! if you break a tooth, oh well, but if you lose a eye that's a problem.
you might want to see if your local pool pump motor repair guy or pool supply can service it for you, just take them the valve from the filter and ask.

there is built into every motor an thermister overheat sensor that will automatically shut down a motor when it over heats. Once it cools down the motor will come back on.
Look at the pool water temperature readout. If this is a crazy figure say 60 to 120d deg C replace the thermistor line probe that senses water temp. its in the black water manifold.
