Bass speaker moving in out more then normal

If the fuse was blown on the 220-250 V side, I am assuming that you are in the UK, if you aren't , but are in the US, change the power setting dial/switch on the back to 100-120v and you might be good to go. Also, I know this may sound silly, but make sure that the speaker selector switch is pressed in or set to a speaker set ( A or B). Love the Sansui gear, have many complete systems myself!

the above mentioned make and model # unit is a tuner, not a reciever, as a tuner, it's only function is to recieve radio signals, there is no internal amp, no selector switch for other components.

Amplifiers only amplify what is already there in the signal. By design, with all controls set to neutral or flat, they don't create or loose anything.

Speakers, on the other hand, are responsible for turning the electrical input into moving air. Good bass usually requires moving a lot of air.

Poor speaker placement or speakers wired out of phase with each other can **** the bass out of a room.

This receiver has a built-in Equalizer. Perhaps you could use IT to compensate for the tonal shortcomings of the speakers and environment.

Put the jumpers back in as shown. Hook your speaker leads to either top or bottom. The entire array of drivers will be active.

Make your receiver aware they are LARGE for the purposes of bass reproduction so some bass will get out to them. FYI, many AVR's will only allow Large Rear speaker selection if you also have Large Fronts. Refer to the manual(s).

You have a possible fault in your wiring of the speakers, the Phases of the speakers are crossed over resulting in cancelling of the low frequency- bass frequency. Hence please reconnect the speakers front and rear with the positive/ negative to the corresponding positive and negative of the speakers.If you are unable to fix the marking of the polarity use 1.5 Volt cell to connect to the speakers , if the speaker moves up the terminal on the positve of battery is positive. reconnect and test with a good bass song for result. Your best bet to improve the bass is to attach the audio output of your HDTV to a stereo unit and amplify the audio with the amplifier. Attaching the speakers to the HDTV will not improve the sound much. Sorry.

Is it possible that the speakers are out of phase, where one speaker is moving out, the other is moving in, resulting in zero bass?

Other than checking wires, making sure + on amp is linked to + on speaker, try changing the eq settings, or sit them next to a wall - walls help bass a lot.

you will have to sell them and buy a new set of speakers for better quality sound
