SOURCE: DEWALT CORDLESS DC618

You have to take the front part of the case off, and you will see the problem. Either the drive belt is broken or the rubber band like springs have broken. Happened to both of mine after about 2 years of use. I ordered the parts through Dewalt and they have some nice diagrams showing the locations and how things go together. Not too hard to do

Hello my dewalt dc618 wont fire its bands and belts are all good.it tries to fire but only when no nails a in it.i think the driver is worn can you help thanks.

I've been using dewalt tools exclusively for 15 years. I've fixed numerous drivers, sawzals, etc. I've learn 3 things over and over again. 1 cleaning & lubing are grossly under rated, 2 if one part goes the rest are not far behind & 3 it has never cost me more than $20 to $30 bucks more to have the repair place rebuild it than to fix it myself. And most times they give you a new bulk packaged tool as a rebuilt. My recommendation: have it rebuilt...enjoy the new tool.

How do I replace the belt on Dewalt cordless dc618?

Remove 2 screws on metal front cover.
Remove screws holding handle halves together and carefully separate (Be careful because trigger spring can fly out on you).
This will expose the belt and allow replacement. There is a spring loaded idler pulley so removal & replacing is easy.

Dewalt dc618 wont fire

firstly its always better to change both of the bands even if one is broken this always keeps the drive trim.all seems well clean all the contacts ie battery and gun (do not use any cleaning products this will cause grease)just wipe clean with paper towel.

The link below is where you can download the owners manual. The link is on that page near the top right hand side under the area marked downloads. Page 5 will show you were the switch is located that switches the tool from sequential fire to bump fire.

My DC618 nailer won't fire .

Check the battey then take it out and check the driving rod. On the front of the gun, flip the latch and make sure it is pushed all the way back.
make sure you have nail, of course. put the battery back in. If al that does not work, have it services at a dewalt service center.

Dewalt dc618 nailer is not firing

I have both the DC616 and 618 and have used them sucessfully for about three years. Two main things go wrong. There is a drive belt that breaks (drives the spool that give the energy to drive in the nails), second are two small rubber bands on either side of the drive head that break. The bands can be accessed by taking off the front silver cover, the drive belt is access by spliting the case. Make sure you are using the correct nails or the drive pin may become bent and will jamb repeatedly. Hope that helps!
