No power coming through to mop (Shark purple steam mop. Light doesn't light up so I know there is no power coming through. Checked for a reset button but can't find one. Have checked the electric outlet to make sure it works and even changed to another outlet still no power. Have had my mop about 6 months and never had a problem with it until this.
Hi All
Up Date on shark no steam no light.
The fuse that controls the steam is a thermal fuse, 192c ,10 am 250 volt.
Now that may sound strange to some one who dose not know fuses, but Radio Shack carries them and there $3 bucks!
If there is a handy person you know, they should have no problem
replacing the fuse. I just fixed ours in about 30 min. but I work on
electronics. If the Shark gets to hot this fuse will blow to prevent
overload or fire so don't put bigger fuse in it!!
FYI you have to take All the screw out and open up the unit fuse is burried look for yellow clear film (thats the color mine was), the film is wrapping the fuse. Good luck
Since there is no power button, there are really only two major reasons for no power - a bad power cord (usually at one end or the other where it gets bent a lot) and the thermal fuse. Mine was also the thermal fuse. A bit hard to get to at the bottom of the heater chamber. You must use a crimp slice with the replacement fuse, not solder (which will melt) just as you see on the original. As mentioned, you should be handy or have some electrical experience and tools (crimp splice and tool). You also should cover the splice with heat shrink tubing (I think that is what they originally used) and probably put back the yellow-ish heat resistant plastic wrap.
