Turn on the machine, if it says replace ink press ok and the instructions will be on the screen, if you are replacing early, press setup, maint, ink, lift the scanner, you should see the cover for the ink on the right hand side. After you replace it, let it do its thing , it is going to prime the new one.
Try to reinstall the software drivers. If this doesn't work then try uninstalling it from the control panels add/remove programs, then reinstall printer software.
