Roadmate 1200 will only turn on from power button. Will not turn on when you turn ignition on?

Steps to Update Magellan Roadmate 1200 GPS :
1. Go to official website of Magellan and choose "support" option. After selecting the support you will find the various options. You have to select "Manual and Software Update".
2. Choose your product from the drop down the menu and select Roadmate series. A pop up will display on the screen and choose I want to download this update.
3. Hit the "Download Now" button.
4. Checkout every connection under "Redesigns and Maps" to buy Latest Magellan Roadmate Gps Update . "Add the lives maps which are available to your Cart," at the time of proceeding to the "Continue to Checkout."
After completing the process you will get an email from the Magellan. It will later to download the Update on the SD Card itself.

plug it in to a known good charger for a few hours, then press and hold the power button for up to ten seconds.

make sure green light is on if using the car charger and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (up to ten seconds) until it starts..

if you tried charging it with both house charger and car charger and tried to start it like i explain and it still will not start, its most likely a bad power port which is very common with this model and many other magellan models.

plug it in to either the home charger or the car charger for a few minutes,(is the green light on, on the car charger) then press the power button for up to 15 seconds.if that fails, try a hard reset. little pin hole on the side(use a paper clip) if that fails you might have a bad usb connector.

The USB must be for charging the unit and downloading updates when it becomes available. You have to unplug the USB and use the battery power to put in addresses .My 1200 does the same.

PRESS AND HOLD THE POWER BUTTON, AND THEN PRESS THE RESET BUTTONS, AND THAT SHOULD RESET THE UNIT TO OEM DEFAULT SETTING AND THE PROBLEM SHEOULD BE FIXED.
