SOURCE: fridge not cooling

Most of the time on a whirlpool the problem is the relay on the compressor sometimes called the start device. I would replace that first. If you need help finding the part let me know. I will need the complete model # from the sticker inside the fridge section. You can look it up with diagrams at http://www3.sears.com/.

SOURCE: not cooling

The clicking you are hearing is your overload on your start system sounds like your compresser start ststem is out..or your compresser is locked up the only way to tell is to ohm out the compresser idf you dont have a meter you can install a start kit like a Supco Pro41 or a RCO410 or a factory replacement and see if it starts up the compresser.. Have you cleaned the condenser at all ??? although this will not fix the compresser it can be a cause of overheating..The part Number you need is a 2188831 for the factory replacemenet ($22.56)the supco parts part number SU RCO410 ($15.00) the Pro41 is part #
SU PRO41 ($17.97) you can get them at your local parts house they are all easy to change or if you dont have a parts house close you can oder it on the web at www.apdepot.com Hope this fixes ya

SOURCE: panel between fridge and freezer very hot and no sound at all

Dont know about the noise prob. but I can help with the over heating cabinet. Your condensing coil is dirty and needs cleaned. it is located under your refrigerator or behind the back panel. You should use a brush and vac. it out. Air must travel through the tubing freely in order to cool properly. It should be easy to find following the tubes coming out of your compressor.

SOURCE: Clicking noise coming from whirlpool refrigerator

The clicking sound is a relay called PTC relay. You need to replace it. First be sure to unplug frig. Remove the cardboard cover that covers most backs of the frig units. Remove the plastic cover that is on the side of compressor. It is held on with a metal clip. Now you should be able to see the relay pry the relay straight off. note the wiring and position of relay. Only three prongs on compressor. Go to a parts house for appliance's and with your make and model number should be able to get a new one. Let me know if you need any more help. ken

SOURCE: Whirpool fridge is warm, freezer is working

Check the back wall of the freezer compartment for ice buildup. Sounds like you have a defrost issue.

Samsung rb2055sl running warm 55 degrees in refrigerator and 70 degrees in freezer fan is working no ice, way to warm

Is there a clicking noise? Feel the compressor to see if too hot to keep your hand on top. Look ate the frost pattern in rear of the freezer compartment and tell me the results. Several things could be causing the compressor to get hot and not run. Freon leak is one thing that could happen and defective start relay, overload and run capacitor is another. You could also have a defective cooling fan under fridge or inside the freezer compartment

The refrigerator is not cooling either the freezer or the fridge I dont know what to do it stays hot.

. Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay. Place a probe on each terminal. The multitester should display a reading of zero ohms. If the overload protector does not pass this test, it should be replaced.

Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

Hi i have a problem with the above fridge/freezer all the lights are on it makes the appropreiate noises at the right time the fan is working fine no previous problems but now the fridge and the freezer...

Hi, if the freezer fan is on, you need to get behind it and remove the panel where the compressor and condenser coil and fan motor are located. They both should be up and running also. If not, feel the top of compressor and see if it is hot but Carefully, they can get very HOT. If the fan motor is not running, that will be the problem. If it is, see if the front of the coil is dirty, like a sheet of dirt on it. Clean it. If the compressor is hot and off, and fan is running, the compressor is off on external overload. Locked up.If it tries to start you can hear it click off and back on. This is the overload. More then likely, the compressor will be faulty. If the motor is off, replace it and it will work as soon as the compressor cools down. Unplug it if the motor is bad. You can get one at a appliance parts store. Take all part, model, serial, numbers along. Check these out and keep me posted.
Sincerely,

Frige gets hot and makes clicking noises.

Sounds like the compressor is not working very well the clicking is the compressor starter trying to start the compressor. May be low on freon or bad compressor. You can probaly buy one cheaper than fixing this one
