This is an excellent, easy to follow video presentation of attaching the carpet cleaner to your Kirby Generation 3 Upright Vacuum Cleaner. Please note that the model being used in the video is a newer model named the Sentria, but the process of attaching the carpet extractor attachment is identical on the Kirby Sentria and the Kirby Generation 4. The only major difference is that the Generation 4 does not have the lever that extends out to turn the belt to off. On the Generation 4 this is dont by turning the entire white square with the Kirby logo on it in the front of the vacuum cleaner.
Please feel free to ask for a repair clarification if you have a question on how to attach the carpet shampooer. I'm always, more then happy to answer any follow up questions there may be.

Below is a link to the GoodVac.com website. This link will take you to the "Online Kirby Vacuum Manual". The manual will instruct you in removing the carpet nozzle, replacing it with the hose and attaching the upholstery tool.

I need to know how to use the attachments that came with the Kirby. I know how to use the shampoo/vacuum, but not the other attachments or the upholstery cleaner. Does anyone have any idea?
Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. 1st, you need to un-hook the lever @ the top of the Kirby head, dial off the belt from the Kirby Vacuum Head using the Kirby emblem in the front of the vacuum, that also serves as a hook/spoon to dial the belt off the fan pulley. Once you have removed the vacuum head you now hook up the attachment hose to use the attachments by locking the attachment hose to the top lever. All regular Kirby attachment will fix on the attachment hose end including the spin brush if you have one with your Kirby --- using the Kirby Shampoo spray the soiled area and use the spin brush to agitate the carpet and or upholstery, try not to use to much water. If you have a Kirby shampooer – use the recovery tank on the exhaust port of the Kirby (this means that the cloth/paper bag needs to come off and install the clear recovery tank. Please refer to the Kirby owners manual for any type of trouble shooting that you might need – or please feel free to contact your local vacuum dealer in the yellow pages or contact your Kirby factory manufacturer listed below: http://kirby.comContact Us by Phone United States and Canada 1-800-494-8586 Between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST Monday thru Friday Thanks,Don – The Vac Man Go Ahead.Use Us.
Generic problem for all Vacuums How do you use and How do you use and what attachments for upholstery cleaning with the Heritage II I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Kirby has a spin brush that is round on the newer Kirby’s and it works on the suction from the vacuum and it fits on the end of the vacuum hose but it does not fit into corners very well or your can take some Kirby shampoo in the spray water bottle and use a kitchen scrub brush for the corners. Other wise you can use the actually Kirby Shampooer of which is very hard and unfriendly; the spin brush would be my selection. You can check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area and also in the yellow pages. Also you can call the Kirby factory to see if they can direct you.
