Look carefully at the screen, you should see some very faint images while its booting up. IF this is the case you need to replace the inverter.

SOURCE: How do I clear the Bios password on a toshiba

There is no backdoor password, you'll have to take it to an authorized Toshiba repair center.

You can find one here.

They usually charge about 100 to remove the password, BUT if you keep insisting that you didn't set the password they'll probably remove it for free shhhh ;)

Hello.

Boot your system to Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly). Go to System Restore and choose a date when your system worked OK. Note: with System Restore, everything, including your documents and other files you saved on the hard drive, will roll back to that date.

Hope this helps.

You may find the memory is faulty. I don't know why they fail but I have had a few. The microprocessor requires memory to "build" the programme and screen.
Try replacing it with a known good and similar specification memory.
Hiope this helps.

How to replace the hardrive in a toshiba l305d-s5974 ?

As with most laptops, the drive is situated under a plastic cover on the underside of the machine. cover is usally held by one or two screws.
then the drive is usually held in by another 4 screws. A standard SATA laptop drive will fit the location and connector.

After this though, one requires the Windows operating system on the new drive. this can be loaded from a Windows CD/DVD. but if you don't have disks, you need to borrow the exact version you had loaded and enter your license key from the underside of the laptop.

PC did not detect my TV; however everything works fine with VGA cable. VGA cable is the perfect choice.

Sounds like a potential memory problem. If you have two sticks, remove one and see if it clears up; then try the other. If not, download on a friends computer memory test from http://www.memtest.org/

Create a CD and try it on your computer.
Hope this information will help.

The laptop is not seeing any hard drive. remove the panel underneath (2 screws) and remove and refit the hard drive. If it still does not work then enter the bios by hitting the F2 key while booting and look at that page. under HDD model name and hdd serial number there should be information on the drive. If there is such info then the drive is being seen but cannot be accessed. Anyway it looks like the drive has had it. You will need to find your windows disk when you fit a new drive and reinstall windows.
