Replaced DLP chip and now top 25% of screen is much darker than rest of screen

Have you checked DLP termistor?

If they are white dots on a darker background then the dlp chip is failing and needs to be replaced. There are no fixes for that problem.

It is very possible that you have not fully seated the lamp housing. Other than that, you might have dislodged something that is blocking the light, On Samsung DLP tv's this would mean that the light tunnel has collapsed. I would suggest you have a professional TV Tech have a look at the TV.

Normally the dlp going bad would be white or black spots. Dead pixels. DMD/DLP is about 200$ from china. I've got a video of the repair on an ex51u

Usually this will be on top or either side and the problem is the optical light engine is damaged from heat----seen about a dozen.

i had the same lines on my 65' mitsubishi tv after replacing the DLP chip. after going back over everything i realized that the casinf that holds the chip in was not in the lock position. i took the chip out and replaced it then turned the little locking mechanism to the locked position. now my screen is perfect. hope this helps.

What is the model of the TV? Samsung DLP TV's start with HLS,HLP,HLW.....
