Blown headlight fuse on 1995 MERCEDES BENZ E320

I installed the HID lights and they were checked on another vehicle and work fine. However when I wired them to the MERCEDES BENZ E320 (1995) I think I blew a fuse because the headlights don't come on at all , fog lights do though. how do I fix this? Im not sure where fuse box is.

Naso228:

balkjr Check the 7.5 amp fuse thats under the dash labeled high beams and low beams. I like a idiot checked all the other fuses under the hood but neglected to check that one and it was blown. Once i replaced the fuse my headlights work fine but still no instrument lights. For whatever reason i was able to blow the fuse again by shorting out the dimmer switch so i checked it with a multimeter and it had voltage going in but none out. I unplugged the dimmer switch and looked into it and alias noticed a solder in the middle pin that had snapped off. Its proved trickier than i had expected to solder it back but i know for sure that it is the culprit because i was able to use a pin to reach in it and hold the solder point down to get connection and my instrument lights worked fine. You can look right into the switch and see the solder point thats broke if that seems to be the problem for you also it comes from the middle pin on the switch and solders straight to the board. Just look inside the switch is made fairly open.

SOURCE: Tail lights and dash lights not working, due to headlight install

I have the same problem in an 88 Accord. I found that if I slowly turn the light switch, there is a sweet spot in between the the parking light and headlight on position (around halfway in between or so.) where all will work. The problem is , when I might a right turn signal, it turns the dash and brake lights out again and I have to refind that sweet spot. Not very safe, so we don't drive that car at night.
I was told by a mechanic that the issue is a relay or switching mechanism located in the steering column.

Yes check the fuse, it could be a bad connection going to the headlight which may also blow the fuse.

use a light circuit breaker in place of the fuse, then check harness for short to ground, start with tail light harness, or trailer wiring if so equiped

E320 mercedes benz 1997 all windows not working what could be the problem

it sound like a relay for the windows have gone should be in the fuse box this should be if right hand drive but should be the same if left open bonet as you look in it will at the top left hand side of the engine black box take off the cover all fuses and relays are numbers just pull the one out for the windows also check fuses as well another possibility could be the window switch cluster around gear stick but this is unlikely hope this helps ivan
