Unit is noisy and rattling (70-pint) .....

We just turned on our unit for the season and the unit is louder than it used to be and has a rattling noise. It almost sounds like there something in the caught in the fan. However we cannot seem to remove the back of the unit to investigate and we have misplaced the manual. We've cleaned the air filter as well. Any ideas would be appreciated....

There is nothing caught in the fan.  I have the same problem.  When taking the back off; unscrew and there our 2 tabs on the to edges about 2 inches in and on the bottom about 2 inches up on each side.  I can't seem to find an answer.   It appears that it could be the motor.  The fan spins freely when I spin it by hand.  I've tried to make adjustments from the fan side.  It looks like I would have to take the condenser coils off to get to the motor  potentially from the front.  Currently, I'm going to live with it because it is in the basement.  It looks like extended warranties are the way to go with dehumidifiers.  My Kenmoore has worked great at pulling water.  The problem has appeared after using a hose set up affecting the drainage.  When I buy another, even though this is my 2nd in 5 years.  But, I am buying the extend warranty this time.   These things break.

Can the grill of a 70 pint Frigidaire be removed to clean the coil?

With your unit switched off, vacuum them with a brush attachment. If still dirty, you can spray with a degreasant spray and then gently rinse with a towel under the coils. Dry with a hair dryer. That is how refrigeration techs do it.

Noise

There are basically two moving parts, the fan and the compressor. It more then likely is the fan. Be sure the air path is clean and the fan blade does not hit anything. If it is the compressor I would suggest getting a new unit and using that one elsewhere for the short time it has left.

Whirlpool Basement Dehumidifer is freezing up about l/3 from the bottom. Compressor will not turn off. Coils were cleaned and cleaned fan is running freely. Sitting in well ventilated area and temp...

IIt may very well be that the the air intake filter needs to be removed and cleaned. But, before doing this, turn the unit OFF & unplug it. Allow the unit to completely thaw, before removing the filter.Never operate the unit without the filter in place, As this could damage the unit.

Hope this helps you & thanks for choosing FixYa.

Dehumifier blows out my electrical switch in my electrical panel.

You definitely have an electrical short in the unit and should stop using immediately. Have it checked out by a licensed electrician. It is a very real fire hazzard.

Dehumidifier automatic on and off function not working

Unless you live in a dry environment or place the unit in a hermetically sealed room, it probably will not turn off. As the air dries within the room, more moisture comes in with the air. As long as the air outside of the room is more humid than the room this will be true.
