I am using my friends Kodak DX 6490. When taking pictures at night, the flash goes off but the photo is dark. Are the settings off? Please advise. Thank you.
Hello, When taking photos in low light or night time, turn the rotary dial that you use to turn on the camera all the way to the right as far as it will turn.the symbol looks like torso of person with a star above it. this is the night setting, exposure time is increased so you may have to rest camera on solid object to prevent blur. This should do the trick.
Best Regards,Russell

Make sure that the "Take Picture" button (the big one, on the top) has the ring around it, it looks like a circle with bunch of pictures on it. Move the flap so that it is parallel with the ON/OFF button. It should work now.
SOURCE: dropped my kodak dx 6490. Lights flash and lens won't retract.
Drop it agin, in the trash can. It is not worth getting repaired, you would be better off getting a new camera...
