I have a 60 gig ps3 but it wont read blueray games or movies

Same for me i have a 60 gig ps3. i can play ps2 games and dvds but not ps3 Blueray games or movies

    i called sony they said 150.00 which i think is ********.
    cant i just buy a new laser and install myself?
    where can i find one?
    is it simple to install?
    i want to fix and sell this was my backup system

    you can buy one off ebay but you have to look at yours first to see which one it is.

What happens you put a ps3 disc in the drive? Does it not register at all? Does it read BLUERAY movies because if so it should read games as well.

Playstation 3 only reads playstation 2 games
this could be a problem with your blueray lens, the question you have given isnt really specific but, if it can play (ps2 games, cds or dvds) but not (blueray films or ps3 games) then it will be your blueray lens and will cost around £120 to repair from sony unless it is under warranty hope this helps..
