Hotpoint washing machine outer tub moulding

The plastic on the top of the outer tub for my Hotpoint washing machine is broken. This used to keep the bolt that keeps the tub attached to its upper stone weight. Now the weight is not fixed to the outer tub and the machine will be very noisy when it spins if used. I rang Hotponit and they said this can be fixed without replacing the outer tub but the price given is very high. I am thinking about doing the work myself. Does anyone know what is the best method to mould plastic (liquid or solid) into the outer tub and how to get the correct shape.

The only way to resolve is to replace the outer tub, no other permanent sollution, what hotpoint mean is that you would not have to replace whole outer drum only the front half.

Does the outer drum on a hotpoint WT540

All outer tubs on most Washing Machines these days are sealed.
Therefore you cannot split the tub to get inside and change the bearings. instead you have to change the whole tub assembly as a complete unit. Not an easy job.

How to remove drum from outer plastic mould

First you would have to remove the cabinet, then the agitator, but then you need a special wrench to get the tub out.

On a hotpoint ultima wt741. how does the plastic outer tub separate so that the inner steel drum can be removed so as to replace the bearings?

2 tubs used on these-one has screw going around the middle of the tub to split in half/the other is a sealed tank which means you have to replace tub-if you have a filter under the front kick strip then its the sealed tub

When it is running it moves a lot on the tile floor we have it on. What is the best way to stop it from moving? It is a GE Profile washing machine

You will need to replace the rubber straps. There is one one each conner, just under the top. If you push the tub over to one side and run your hand under the top and feel. You will find a rubber strap that connects from under the top to the outer tub. These are bad to break. You need to replace the broken ones before you use the machine again. These keep the outer tub from banging into the inside of the machine causing it to break and leak. When this happens, the tub list for around $160.00 and it take about two hours to replace it. It's cheaper to buy a new machine it the tub breaks. GE's are known for this problem.

Hey overman,

Sorry to hear that, I think you may have to look at an Outer Tub replacement.

You may have these links but I will post them just in case.

The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

Outer Tub P/N 25001199

I would call Maytag the outer Tub is warranted for 10 yrs per the the Service Manual.

Good luck Rich.

Hotpoint Washing Machine smells mouldy as has mould

The filter on your pump is probably clogged with lint and stuff. You have to remove the bottom front panel, 3 torx screws underneath. The panel will drop and come off. Drain off the excess water from the hose you see. The white filter cover is right in front. Get yourself a bunch of towels or a good big plastic bag to collect water. Unscrew the filter cover and twist the filter out. Clean out all the stuff and put it back in carefully.

Next: You can use Affresh to clean your front loader. Deposits of soap and other such things can be stuck around the inside tub of your washer. Try this product, it works great on all front loaders. Use hot water with the Affresh pellet with no clothes and run the machine through a cycle. Also helps with any stagnant water smells. Have you cleaned out your pump lately. Put the pellet inside the machine, not in the soap dispenser.
Pl give me a good rating for the free help, thanks.

Washing machine help

If it fills up while just standing it is the filler valve , they are easy to replace

You need to take the back off the machine and with no power on listen to hear if water is trickling in, if it is then change the valve.

If it fills up while working then you need to do the same as above only this time take off the pipe which runs from a small tube shaped plastic moulding at the bottom of the outer tub to what looks like a small flying saucer which sits near the top

Blow into the tube and you should hear a clicking sound as you blow and release

If you can hear that the switch should be OK and I would then go back down to the Air Bell and make sure it does not have undissolved soap clogging it up inside

Hotpoint older model washer spins wont drain

If your washer spins but doesn't pump the water out, the drain line is probably clogged. In many washers, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's attached to the pump--or even into the pump itself. If it's in the pump, you need to remove the hoses from the pump and pull the item out.

To remove the sock from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, using needle-nose pliers, try to grab and remove the clothing through the port.

Sometimes you can't remove the stuck clothing from below. Then you have to remove the agitator, top of the outer drum shield, and inner clothes tub. This isn't easy to do--and you may need special tools--so you might be happier getting a qualified appliance repair technician to do the job.

If the drain line isn't plugged, the problem may be with your pump. Even if the pump appears to be turning, the internal impeller may be broken. If so, you need to replace the pump.

Door seal

switch off from mains
remove outer clamp holding door boot to cabinet and peel off door boot.
remove work top
there is a clamp holding door boot to tub. undo clamp and pull door boot away
lubricate slot in door boot that goes on to the lip of the tub using washing up fluid
starting at the top, insert lip of tub into slot in door boot. working both ways round, push door boot onto lip
fit outer clamp
push door boot on to lip of the cabinet and fit clamp.
test for leaks on a rinse cycle (water level is higher) water will be a bit foamy till washing up fluid is washed away
easy job but needs a bit of patience so go for it
