you need to hold down the power button and home button it worked for me

Press and hold the menu and center button simultaneously for about 10 seconds. The iPod should restart. Otherwise, connect your iPod to your computer, select it in iTunes, and press 'restore..' . This should solve the problem, but using the latter method your songs get erased from your iPod.

Holding down the centre button whilst holding down the 'menu' button causes a full re-set. The device works properly now.

so you can hear songs but no vision on screen. then your ipod display might have got damaged. i would request you to contact authorized service center for your ipod. they should be able to fix your problem.

The problem is that your LCD optics Engine is failing. There are three small screens much like the size of a nono Ipod screen, inside of the optics engine. Each one a different color Red, Green, Blue. The blue lcd screen is faulty.These can be replaced but labor to do this is intensive and most tech will want to just replace the optics engine. So in short the Optics Engine need to be replaced to correct this problem.

Have you tried any other headphones? Check the jack for corrosion possibly..

Just reset the ipod!Thats all. If you dont know how to reset check this out.. They will show it in video! Its damn easy..

Your iPod is in Disk Mode. Press and hold the menu and select buttons together until an apple appears. then it should be Ok. More info can be found here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
